[quote=blackest]It doesn't need to be that hard. Tell me where this photo was taken. What i did was turn on the gps on my phone and used an app called gps tracker to record my (and my camera's) movements. I took the gpx file from my phone and then applied it to the photo's i uploaded to lightroom.
Lightroom cross referenced the time my photo's were shot with the location where i was according to the gpx file.

Incidentally i was able to find 39 photos also taken in that same city in a fraction of a second in Lightroom just with a text search.

Blackest - I'm impressed. I mean that positively. You are using technology effectively. You probably take a lot more pics than I do...there's a lot to photograph in Ireland!

After I upload pics to LR, I identify them with key words. That way, I can pull up any photos anywhere in my catalog within seconds. The problem is typing in the keywords...that's a good project when you are sitting in an airport waiting to board a plane.

That said, kudos to you method.

There is plenty to photograph but to be fair fresh eyes helps a lot. Everything is extraordinary when it is new to you.

I hate keywording it's tedious, but the nice thing about the gps it is able to give a good location which means i have keywords already added :) It took me a long time to learn i didn't need to buy a gps for my camera, I found gpx tracker relatively recently.

There are other things you can do Googles Picasa has face recognition but lightroom 5.7 doesn't however its possible to have photo's in 2 catalogs and import the picasa name data into lightroom. I wouldn't want to be typing names into each photo either.

Ok picasa isn't perfect but it does learn. It has surprised me before I was at a parade in Cork and the crowds were huge. I managed to take a picture of someone I know in the crowd, I didn't know they were there until picasa flagged them in the photo.

Computer technology is my thing, one thing I have found quite often the question wouldn't it be good if ... has usually been answered :)

I'm always learning, today I learnt that aluminium foil and water is great for cleaning rusted pitted chrome. As a result every door handle in the place is now bright and shiney, plus a few other things too i tried it out on.

Blackest, very impressive. You use technology well!

For your rust pitted chrome, when I was a kid, we cleaned car bumpers with Coca-Cola. I don't remember what we put it on, but it cleaned the rust off.
