Hello my Photo friends!

HELP!!!!

As always, I'm reaching out to you for your expertise. I'm going on an extensive Canadian Rockies photography outing and really need to find an appropriate backpack for my trip.

My leader is carrying the f-stop Santori EXP, but they are not making that anymore and I have not found it on the Internet anywhere.

I need to have easy access to camera equipment. Here's what I need to carry with it::

2 camera bodies
Stable tripod
3 to 4 lenses
Three filters and holders
5 batteries
Small jackets/light amount of clothing
Up to 2 L of water/bladder
Snacks
Backpack rain cover

It needs to be Airline carry-on size since we are being airdropped by helicopter into remote locations.

It also needs to be lightweight!

HELP!!!

Thank you!

I like the ThinkTank Airport Essentials myself, but that may not hold everything you've listed. I don't envy your back with everything you want to tote along.

Anyway, ThinkTank has a number of airline-friendly packs.

Tenba just released a new line you may want to look at some are crush proof and airline compatible. Pretty expensive IMO.

Check out fstop gear. I have one of their older packs and I'm quite happy with it.

Another alternative - from www.Tenba.com - the Roadie line of roller cases and a 20" backpack that can handle 2 DSLRs and multiple lenses. These folks make high quality, full value bags. /Ralph

What rjaywallace said. My Roadie has also served me well. Plenty of capacity, strong build, and versatile. I recommend you give the Tenba line a look.

Check out the options at Think Tank, maybe especially their airport series. I think you may find what you're looking for!

Lowepro Protastic aw450.
...will hold 2 probodies with grips, side holders for tripod and water bottle (no bladder). 5 lenses (2 can be 70-200 size and stay attached).
Moly bands all around so you can add attachments as needed. Its a beast. Weight is not light but then what you described is not going to be light anyway.....is your chiropractor going with you?

I wish... Anything with wheels won't work. Part of it is going to be aggressive hiking. :-/

Hi Photogrow,

Pretty tall order! I own the LowePro Protactic 450. It'll fit most of what you want but not the extra clothes. I have a few questions:

1. Will you be backpacking into the wilderness and carrying sleeping gear, or will it be day trips from a base in civilization?

2. What lenses and bodies do you want to bring?

3. What do you mean about "light weight"?

I do some backpacking and tend to trim down my photo kit to what I feel will be best suited for the picture I want to take. Granted, I've never been on a dedicated photography trip, so maybe i would want to take more.
Let us know a little bit more about your itinerary before you rush out to buy a $250 bag.

Try browsing Mindshift https://www.mindshiftgear.com/
I have the 180 but they do make larger bags.
