I have a friend on another photo forum who shoots with this camera. It is a bridge camera with a Leica lens. Her forte is insects. She shoots moths, butterflies, catterpillars and other insects. Her focus is terrific and her dof is fantastic. I have to think that the Leica lens is of great benefit on this camera, but she, too has learned the art of the lens. This camera sells for under $300. She is as good as any photographer I've come across, and her insects have appeared in Project Noah and even the Huffington Post.
Thanks Steve for your comments about my camera and my skill. I appreciate it very much! I just joined.

I have been shooting with Lumix cameras for years. I recently bought the LX5 which has the 2.0n Leica Summicron Lens (Same camera as Leica D Lux5).
The camera has all the features of of a DSLR including but not limited to Raw, Ap, Shutter, Manual, program and a host of other shooting modes.
My D7000 is beginning to gather dust.

I called Arlington Camera to ask a question about ND versus polarizing filters and mentioned this camera. They were quite keen on it. The newest incarnation of it coming out is numbered FZ200 I believe, but still has the Leica lens. This would be an awesome camera for any young person starting out in photography or for anybody wanting a bridge type camera.
fantastic shot! I have an old DMC-FZ7 which I love to death
While I have two Canon DSLR cameras, I also have both the Panasonic Lumix FZ47 bridge and the Panasonic LX5. I am constantly amazed at the images these two Panasonics produce with the leica lens. Always use them for walkabout, family gatherings and travel. DSLRs are just too big, so they are only used for soccer games. I like-a my leicas. YES, Carol, fantastic shot of the moth.
That moth is amazing - it looks about six feet long in that photo!
