I just did some reading about EXIFTOOL and see that it may CALCULATE the 35 mm equivalent value on the fly, so it takes the crop factor and applies it to the focal length to display the 35 mm equivalent value.
I understand the GAS related stuff for sure! :)
I think as long as EXIFTOOL is used to look at the data it will show you what you need to know.
