We shouldn't still pay the rent because the Indians did not, "own", the land. They USED the land. If settlers had not come to America it would still be pretty much the same as it was. I doubt even the Indians would want that. Some tribes were helpful to the settlers. Others were warlike even to other tribes, taking land and slave captives which they bought and sold at will. Why is it that only the white people are guilty when Indians themselves stole from other tribes and would have completely wiped the other tribes off the face of the earth. I wonder if those warlike tribes suffer from the modern Indian guilt like I am supposed to suffer from white guilt. I don't and never will.

Is this something really worth arguing about. There is nothing you or I can do to change anything. Progress is progress and many people don't like it, but it continues and will go on.

The PC libs think they could change history by not teaching it in schools without putting their bias slant to it, but no matter how hard they try, thank goodness the truth have its way of finding the light of day!

Absurd. The US Supreme Court says they owned the land under US law and the Constitution. Do you only use land but not own it? If you rent what happens if you don't pay the rent?

Two sets of laws, one for you and one for them, is racism at its worst.

You are revising history.

The Souix and other plains cultures were not there in 1492. They developed after DeSoto decimated Native America with disease and an army.

There were few if any nomadic cultures in the Americas originally.

As a high school student in the 60's I lived with a Navajo friend off and on. Except for pickup trucks there was not of difference from the second photos. Hogans were the same, no electricity and sheep were currency. I obtained 2 wild horses from the reservation to use on the ranch that I broke myself.
I really enjoyed the photos

Just off the road in Monument Valley and under the shade of one of the monuments there is a Navajo home complete with a corral of horses. It would appear that the old life continues on for at least some.

My Dad used to subscribe to the American Heritage. One of the issues had photos of all the old great Indian chiefs, including Sitting Bull. It was one of my favorites.
