Hi all. I have a question that I would like to get some opinions on. For the last two or three days I've notice my Canon 7d mkII has a delay in focusing when the shutter button is pushed down half way. I would say it takes about 2 seconds before it starts trying to focus. It eventually focuses correctly, but it never used to have this delay. I cleaned the contacts on the camera. It happens with different lenses being attached. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or if maybe I need to send it in for cleaning and repair. Thanks for your ideas.
Hi all. I have a question that I would like to get... (show quote)

I have been reading and searching to find what can cause this.
Having the anti-flicker feature turned on will cause the camera to delay while it checks the light.

open menus

1st set on the left - picture of a camera
Go to the forth drop down - red eye reduction, interval timer, bulb timer, anti-flicker shoot and mirror lockup

scroll to "anti-flicker shoot" and make sure it is set to "disable" if it is enabled then the camera will pause to check the light for flickering and match the interval of the flicker if it is flickering

Oh, do you have the special AF Booklet for the 7DII? (51 pages just about the AF) You can download it as a PDF from the Canon support site.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with everyone. It's been raining all day today so I haven't been out to try some of the suggestions. Sounds like a call to Canon might be a beneficial call. Thanks again for everyone's support. That's what makes the Hedgehog a great source of information.
