Have you actually used it? If not, how do you know it's any good? Seriously. Word of mouth or from people you know well or from promotional sales material?

Thank you.

Have you been reading this thread???? Many of us own this unit and highly recommend it (the V600).

Hey, jerry,
I thank you in principle for posting those links, but I have some information I believe you & fellow Hogs will find useful.

About 6 months ago, I noticed something about virtually ALL digitalcameraworld.com URLs that I had bookmarked!

Without exception, they lead instead to a site called "tech radar". What's more, many of the titles had changed! Specifically, the title of the article in the URL link has nothing whatsoever to do with the resultant article that appears on tech radar. In addition, I've found an usually higher proportion of such links expire, i.e. error 404 appears on my browser.

Two methods: Scan and Copy
Scanners are slow, and quality ranges from awful to pretty fine. A popular film and print scanner is the EPSON V600.

Have you personally used the Epson V600 yourself? What "film and print" scanner do you use, if any?
Thank you.

Love my Epson V-600 and the best part of it is the software you get with it.
Do you use it with a Mac or PC computer?

I use the V600 on a PC with both Windows and Linux.

Like many others here, I use the Epson V600 for scanning slides. The results exceeded my expectations.

The only issues for me were:
(1) How much dust finds its way to my old slides even though they were stored properly. Cleaning can be tedious, often taking more than one attempt.
(2) How much time scanning takes - I have many thousand slides. While slides are scanning I use a small light box and loupe to preview more slides and choose which to scan. Background music helps.

To me the Epson V600 is a lot of bang for the buck and I'm retired with lots of free time. YMMV

Here's a 40 year-old Ektachrome that my wife took (after I set the camera and handed it to her.) Some dust got past my first attempt to clean.

Use dust removal feature. Works wonders.

I have read most of the questions and answers on the V600 site. There is a template for 2"x2" 35mm slides, and instructions for use indicate that slides need to be positioned in 1 of 2 orientations. I have many Super-127 slides (1 5/8"x1 5/8" image) in 2"x2" mounts. I'm presuming I could put those into the 35mm template, but is there some feature that only allows images in the35mm format to be scanned? (Would the scanner crop the scanned image to 35mm size?)

If it is like the V750 it will not scan the super 127 correctly.
You scan the hole holder as one scan then use the select tool to draw around each slide then it will do each one correctly. Have to do this with 126 instamatic as well.
Same with negatives in the 35mm holder if they are not 135 then again you draw around each one and then it does the rest as normal.
I do this with any odd sizes up to 8x10 of negatives. I did make a specific mask for some sizes I have hundreds of negs for rather than do this but for the small strips and slides it is very quick to select them and scan.

I use a 27" MAC. I found a V700 epson scanner that I had forgotten I had. Think that will work well? It has accessories for various sized slides and negatives.
