Nice series Carol.
I like #1 images because it reminds me of aerial fireworks. A burst within a burst, within another burst, cascading earthbound.

Thank you, Phil. Now that you've shared that vision, I can see it clearly! Pretty cool!

The first three photos were shot on a whim. I had been shooting indoors and decided to go outside and do something different for a few minutes. These were shot at f16 for depth and I used the on camera flash for fill and to help offset breeze induced motion. It was a very overcast day but I was pleased with the results.

The last two shots are just pretties from the garden that were shot on another day.

Really a beautiful set, Carol, and even better when the downloads are viewed. Incidentally, I doubled clicked on the fennel, but did not see any eggs or caterpillars!

A great way to brighten up your day Carol -- color, detail and so well composed.

Thank you, Corky. I've had an occasional swallowtail in the yard but they don't seem at all interested in the fennel! Oh well, it made for an interesting shot at least.

Thank you, Pierre. I yearn to do more creative photography but I do enjoy the flowers and that seems to be what Come up with this time of year.

I hope that you will be finding some eggs or caterpillars before long, Carol! Our season has been very slow except that day when the tiger swallowtails were mobbing the azalea that I posted! We are seeing about one butterfly a day and they almost never stop to nectar. I don't think that our weather conditions have been very favorable for them so far! Unseasonable cold nights, several nor'easters, a few hot days followed by even more cold nights and cloudy cool days, but we are now in for very hot weather for the next few days so maybe that will be what it takes, and have seen more dragonflies in the last several days! Take care!

Carol, lovely series and thank you for the tip on using a flash to get DOF and sharpness outside.

Thank you, Greg. It worked well. I don't like to flash flowers normally but I think the very overcast day made it a good plan. Without it I would have needed either high ISO or a very slow shitter.
