Does anyone have any suggestions on a bag to put your camera and equipment in as not to draw attention that expensive equipment is in that bag.

A photographer once told me that he wants his bag to look like its full of dirty underwear. No one wants to steal that.

If your going to Asia, don't leave your equipment in your hotel, carry it with you at all times (voice of experience). Europe, not so much of a worry.
I'd seriously consider a "sling" type back pack, where you'd have access to your equipment by sliding the equipment to the front of you for access. I'd also suggest a neck strap for the camera that is reinforced with a metal going through it, such as California Sun Sniper Steel-Steel Reinforced Padded Camera Sniper Strap. (http://www.amazon.com/California-Sniper-Steel-Steel-Reinforced-Padded/dp/B002VEDQMC)

Please check this site out, they have a full line of equipment for theft protection.

When a thief sees a tourist carrying a shoulder bag, he just assumes that there is something valuable in it. Even a plastic bag from a store can be a target. I've heard of high end stores that offer their customers the choice of a plain brown bag.

I think security is more important that the bag, but I wouldn't carry one with NIKON emblazoned on the side. Carry as little as possible and never loosen your grip. Crisscrossed over the shoulder is better than hanging off one shoulder.

A diaper bag of a proper size is usually a good deterrent, I don't know anyone thats reported stolen diapers ...

PacSafe makes and sells security gear for photographers. Here is a link to their site: http://pacsafe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&activity_id=10. I used the secure camera strap and the large shoulder bag when I went to Europe last summer and felt completely safe, despite my paranoia about getting my gear stolen. If you use a shoulder bag tho', do put it around your neck rather than just hanging off your shoulder.

Good idea. And to add to the deception, take a few unused diapers and roll them up and tape them like I have seen mothers do with dirty diapers. Put them on the top of everything just under the lid, with some fresh diapers under them to cover the equipment. If you want to get really creative, buy some skunk spray from one of those places that sells stunt products. Just a small shot of that should keep people away.

In one mesh pocket of a camera backpack, I place a child's sippy cup, in another mesh pocket, I place a disposable diaper in a clear plastic bag. I clip a few small childrens trinkets to the zippers. I cover over the manufacturer's name with a summer camp decal. Good luck!

The padding that is inside a camera bag can be bought separately so you can then put it in any type of bag, I was looking on Ebay for a camera bag and came across them there
hope this helps

We have a pro safe and it works great. If your out somewhere, you can attach it to a table or pole and it is secure. We attach ours to a hut and never had a problem with someone trying to take the bags. It is worth looking into.

I wonder if someone sells imitation dirty diapers as a deterrent. Looks like a need that no one's filling (no pun intended).
