think about it for a minute, the quicker we get off fossil fuel for energy, the better. crude oil is so vital to our existence, we can't afford to keep burning it up. supper efficient solar panels and lighter, smaller hi- capacity batterys , and wind power will have to lead the way in energy. given the other uses that we have become dependent on from crude, we have to preserve it. i'm talking about plastics, medicine, and a host of other products.

The fossil fuel business is controlled and manipulated by those who have a vested interest in it. Every green power source takes a little bit of money out of the pockets of the oil people, and they don't like that. They pay politicians millions to maintain the upper hand. At the same time, politicians do all they can to make health care as expensive and as unavailable to as many people as possible. The harmful effects of burning fossil fuels hurt everyone, but the wealthy have a chance to get some medical relief.

I agree with the benefits of solar power but those solar fields are very scenic polluting!

Long live fossil fuels!

There is enough to last us 1000 life times.

Forget the "renewable" (translate: failed and unworkable) sources of energy

The fossil fuel industry is following the same path that whale oil did. The whalers realized the whales numbers were dwindling, some enlightened person realized that crude oil could be a worthy substitute. It was a very painful transition for the whaling companies, many of whome became the oil giants of today. Renewables won't be as profitable because once the infrastructure is established there won't be the same growth that consumables enjoy!
The fossil fuel companies will fight tooth and nail untill the benefits of sales are less than cost of extraction! The most profitable renewable is going to be algae conversion to petroleum. Again a consumable energy source!
Solar and wind will not be as profitable, therefore the rush to produce them will diminish!

Yep, wind, solar and batteries will not power anything respectable in the transportation industry. Thinking so is a pipe dream.

So keep digging that coal, pump that oil.

What I love about you guys is the fact you revel in your total ignorance of how the real world works.

Just as a quick example, I give you the idiotic post above. T. Boone Pickens gave up on wind farms over 7 years ago when he encountered reality. He's been into natural gas for quite a while now, another fossil fuel.

This plant that makes towers closed in 2012 but they back open again.

I'm all for any type of energy source, I just don't want to be roped into paying a huge increase to subsidize some shady "renewable green energy" scheme, like Solyndra and many other similar crap. If renewable is so cheap, somebody forgot to tell the Germans. The idiotic Germans turned off all their nuclear reactors after the Tsunami messed up the Japanese reactor at Fukishima and switched en masse to "green renewable energy." The electricity rate skyrocketed and they now have the highest rates in Europe and they have had to start up the coal plants to make up for the nuke plants and they are burning the worst kind of coal, pollution-wise.

Progress for you.

The reason TBP got out of wind farms in the late naugthies (00s) is that these farms are a LONG way from the consumer and there was no way to get the electricity to the demand, without costly transmission lines. So, he's in natural gas now, of which we have a huge abundance, thanks to the frackers.
