Does anyone know of any good software that's free or a one time fee, I don't like this monthly or yearly payment software

Probably the best one to get is Photoshop Elements 15 otherwise known as PSE 15. It's $50-$70 depending on where you get it. I think the best price would be from Sams club or Costco.

Yup Photoshop Elements 15. The software that the camera mfrs supply is, well, crummy! And the best part you own it!

There's a couple of good ones out there.

Light Zone - http://www.lightzoneproject.org

If you are using a Mac:

Both are free and quite capable of some very good editing.

Pay monthly, pay yearly, pay for upgrades every time there is a new version - that's how it works. How you pay for software should have nothing to do with what you need/want in software. Clearly you want something for nothing, or for very little. Can't help you there. Photoshop and Lightroom are the main professional standard, and Capture One is a very strong and capable competitor for raw conversion, and then there is everything else. I think at last count, Adobe reported over 9,000,000 subscribers, but I am not 100% positive on that number.

If you mentioned your level of expertise, how quickly you learn stuff, what it is you want to do with your software, if you shoot raw or just want the software to touch up images or crop them slightly, etc - you are likely to get more meaningful answers than I use this or I use that and it works for me. That isn't really answering your question or providing you with something you can make an informed decision on. But selecting software (or ruling it out) based on the method of payment makes no sense.

I have Elements 14 and Photo Impact Pro 8.5. They do what "I" need in addition to Canon's DPP.
(I finally upgraded Elements last year from v7 and Photo Impact from ~v4. As you can tell I don't get the next version immediately.)

Affinity is probably one of the best. It can do thing even PS can't do. It also works at 16 bits and RAW files.

have a little fun with this

https://web.topazlabs.com/downloads

As it is it is free but you only have a few settings per adjustment without going pro (30 day free trial) then if you go pro it will cost you about $140.

Another option that may work still is to get dx0 optics 9 free

https://petapixel.com/2017/02/03/can-get-copy-dxo-opticspro-9-completely-free-limited-time/

its a couple of months late but i think the link may still be active (like it was for version 8) if that works get it fast. That is very good.

No one should have suggested anything before you answered one basic question: What do you want this software to do?
