Hi all- I'll be traveling extensively this summer and wanted some recommendations for a large capacity SD card for my D7200. I presently use both 32 and 64gb SDXC cards (both Lexar Pro and Sandisk) and have had no problems using1 slot for photo and the other for video. However I'm thinking of shooting in RAW instead of JPG and wondering if anyone has gone to 128 gb? I do plan to download the cards to an external HD but I'm also considering the weight of all my equipment and will probably look to bring this down to the essentials.
Since Nikon doesn't list anything above 32 gb, I was hoping there are some Hogs who could share their experiences in using any of newer high capacity (> 64 gb) cards? As a point of reference, I do like to shoot in DX format -L and my videos are also 1080P so I am going through lots of card memory
Thanks!

I have a D7200 and use both my card slots. A Sandisk Extreme Plus 64 goes into slot 1, and a 32 goes into slot 2. Slot 1 is set to shoot RAW and slot 2 is for JPEG. I shoot very little video with this camera. Lately, I've been thinking about trying out a 128 GB card in the 1st slot and a 64GB card in the second slot - slots set up the same as they are now.

I've used both Lexar and Sandisk 128gb cards with no problems in my Nikon D800.

Thanks. I'm going to pick up a 128 gb card for slot 1 and see what happens. Hopefully all will go OK

I would use multiple 64's rather than 128's. To much of a chance to loose a lot of work in one incident.

SanDisk for SD and Lexar for XQD. Simple. Proven reliability.

Another take on this is the amount of pic you can loose if something happens to your card , you could lose a lot of images ,there small
You can pack all you need in a container the size of a pack of cigarettes that will last a few days , I would not need more than 16 size
As they take no time to slip a new one in but I would hate to lose a 128 size card , that is a reason a lot of pro shooters use the smaller size
Cards .

You might be a bit confused. The D7200 only uses SD cards. The XQD card is used in different bodies.

Stick to the smaller cards, potential data loss, the old saying too many eggs in one basket comes to mind. I'd recommend you get the fastest cards you can afford and stay in the 32 to 64 gig range.

To each their own, but for me, it turns out I am more likely to lose one of the 32 gb cards if I have two or three in use on a trip, than I am to lose my camera with a 128 in it or to have the card fail, which I have never experienced. I know this started with a camera that only has one card, but for those with two slots, I use the SD 128 gb for my raw, and have a 64 gb card on which I store jpeg. If I am traveling, I am not trying to be perfect on photos, I am trying to record the trip. Many pictures are junk, so I don't post process that many of the RAW's. Often times the jpegs are just fine, but I do like to have the RAW's there if I want them.

Everyone has heard the old adage, "Don't put all your eggs in one basket". SD cards weigh almost nothing. Why trust all your valuable pictures to one large card?
