Just sent Nikon a note lets see what the answer is
Once again I've tried to use Snapbridge and I've followed all of the information and the help page and I'm not able to connect with my D500/I-pad I love Nikon and all of my Nikon gear but this is just awful for a hcompany of Nikon's reputation someone needs to figure this out. Go and grab an Olympus camera and Olympus share simple I've never experienced a failure! Or step backwards I'd love to be able to use the WB-1B that always worked I never had a connection failure. Any help will be greatly appreciated
Jeffrey
BTW I've been a dedicated Nikon shooter from the F2 days

This is what I got back from tech support- this is the same thing I've already did still not able to connect and transfer to my iPad Snapbridge is simply awful
If any one has duel system ownership Nikon/Olympus you know how easy Olympus share is to use I have my OMD & Pen-F both synchronized and don't need to delete one to use the other simple open wifi, connect- your in it's that easy
Thank you for contacting Nikon regarding your D500. Provided below are step-by-step instructions on how to connect your camera via Snapbridge.
Snapbridge Setup:
1) Ensure you have the newest firmware version for your camera and the newest version of the Snapbridge app installed on your smart device.
2) Ensure you have a formatted and approved memory card inserted into the camera and that your smart device is compatible with the Snapbridge app.
3) Verify your camera and smart device have fully charged batteries.
4) In the camera's menu, reset the shooting menu and the setup options.
5) Open the Snapbridge app on the smart device and ensure the app is not currently paired with any device. Close the Snapbridge app.
6) Select the "Connect to Smart Device" option in the camera's Setup Menu.
7) Press "OK" on the camera until the camera tells you to open Snapbridge.
8) Open the Snapbridge app. In the Snapbridge app, select the "Connection Options" section in the center of the screen.
9) Select the camera's name and then, in the "Select An Accessory" window that pops up, select the camera's name once it appears.
10) Select "Pair" in the Snapbridge app and press "OK" in the camera.
11) Press "OK" on the camera again.
12) Select a Location data option on the camera; then select a Date/Time option on the camera.
13) The devices will then be paired.
