You will need to update the cameras firmware before it will work.

Not to highjack this post but I just got my D500 yesterday - brand new. Would I still need to update my firmware, MT Shooter? I had read in the reviews that Snapbridge wouldn't work with iPhones but knew that wasn't my priority in buying this camera but it would be nice. I'm hoping that a year after this camera came out that this issue would be resolved.

To the OP - I read in Darrell Young's book that you must be very precise in setting up the wifi capabilities of the D500 or it won't work.

I used my D500 yesterday to take pictures of my very active grandson in my son's dark apartment without flash and I'm delighted with the high ISO results.

That depends on its manufacture date, best to check and see if it has the latest firmware.

Ok, thanks. Since it was out of stock when I ordered it and BH shipped it the day it came back in stock I assume - or rather, HOPE! that it is newborn baby fresh (-: but I'll check.

SnapBridge sucks. Marketing gimmick with unreliable performance. Check Nikon website for connection procedure and good luck.

The first thing that you show do with any new camera is to download and update any newer firmware. Nikon's website has all the instructions you need and it is relatively easy. Best of luck.

Nikon provides a procedure for iPad connection. I can only assume it will work on iPhone. But I'm not sure. Did you check the site as I previously indicated?

Tried Snapbridge once with my Samsung phone and could not get it to work though it looked like it should. Accidentally left the connection on and it drained the battery even when camera was turned off, until I figured out how to stop that.

It's not really something I care much about so I don't know whether I'll mess with it again. By contrast, getting the D750 to work with Nikon WMU (Wireless Mobile Utility) was a breeze.

When I want to share a shot immediately, I pull out my phone, take the shot, and text it. Fast and easy.

When I first got my D500 I set up SnapBridge and it worked fine. However, after a few days it quit working for no reason that I could figure out. I updated the firmware but that did not help. When trying to set it up, the cell phone and the camera find each other, but they cannot sync. I try it every so often, but have come to the conclusion that this is never going to work. I'll try it every so often, just in case, but I have no real hopes. Can't figure out why it worked in the first place.
