I think that new Topaz Studio can open all raws and could give Dobe a run for a one time fee. We have all used Dobe for so many years our brains are stuck with it.

I just found it can't open Corel Photo Paint (sub app of Corel Draw and a pretty good photo PP app) files.
But it has a list of formats it will open that is two rows all the way across my monitor.

Well I downloaded and installed it and it was quite insistent on my logging in, however nipping into prefs was enough to get the login screen away and let me play with it some. It does have quite a few tools but quite hard to figure out there seems to be some limited adjustments e.g exposure seemed quite tight on its range 1 stop? no presets for white balance and everything seems layer based.

Vignette was fun it can be any color and there is a rectangular area where you can drag the centre.

It's fun but I don't feel in control of it. Would I use it as my main editor probably not but worth a play around it only seems to save as tiff jpg or PNG. Still Tiff is useful. It said it saved my DNG where I have no idea. It's around a 500MByte download. For free it is fun. It does seem that you will be getting social with it with effects ranked in popularity. replace lightroom or photoshop replacement, I don't think so.
Well I downloaded and installed it and it was quit... (show quote)

Every new program with a different organization is confusing and hard to figure out when you first try it after being used to the way a different program works.

I know but it's the social aspect , having to sign in, seems more effects than photo processing. The thing i most noticed was the processing bar every click. On the plus side the raw development does look pretty good straight out after entering studio. But take sharpening you have blurry, extra blurry, sharpen, extra sharpen or try pro ... no detail, pixel radius, masking... That is very limiting on a very basic parameter.
