Leyland, where the trucks are made is celebrating the History of Leyland Trucks with a Heritage Trail which can be followed from the Rail station to Worden Park.
It's about 2 miles long and passes through the centre of town, it was very warm and made a good start to to the celebrations which last up to The Leyland Festival on 17th June
Here are a few photographs taken on Sunday showing a sample of things to come over the next few weeks.

Great pics, thank you for sharing. We lived in Woking from 2010 to 2013, looks like you are enjoying better weather than we had for this time of the year.

Wished I was there.
It looks like no matter where in the world a car show is presented they cram them in the parking spaces. Never enough room to walk around the vehicle and shoot it from the side.
Cheers
Ron

Nice shots John! Hope you enjoyed your pint!

At various times in my professional career, I had occasion to drive several different types and makes of trucks (mostly on a "Jim we're desperate for a driver today will you fill in") and of course saw many others, but I've never seen or heard of a Leland--maybe they never made it to this side of the pond. When were they in business?

They started business in 1896 in a factory in Leyland, Leyland Trucks Ltd is still in operation but with another owner.
you read about it here: http://www.leylandtrucksltd.co.uk/en-gb/about-leyland/history

I did enjoy my pint thanks but not in that street bar.

Thanks, John. Leland has had a very interesting history. With all the changes and challenges over the last half of the 20th century, they must be making quality trucks.

Very good set John looks like the weather was kind! Just shown them to Bob who is a Road Transport writer covering vintage trucks and present day vehicles. He writes for several transport magazines.
He wrote a story on the company owned by William Hunter whose name can be seen on the red vehicle at the end of the line up in #6 & #7. Bob also drove a similar Leyland Octopus on the day he interviewed him. Mr Hunter died but as you probably know the company Huntapac still produces and delivers packaged carrots and the like to supermarkets.
