I bit the bullet and bought the Nikon 10-24 lens for my D5300. Bought used from B&H for $679. It is in perfect condition. I use it for interior home shots mostly.
I have one too, bought on UHH used for $600. It was in new condition and still is. Originally for my D5100 later upgraded to D5300. It remains outstandingly sharp.
But it does not have VR. I found I need VR for landscape because I want minimum ISO and f-stop at least f16. So if doing it again I would get the Tokina so I don't need to lug the tripod.
Instead I use my 16-35 on my D800.
Called Cameta and ordered the Tamron 10-24mm for my D7200. Should be here by the w/e so let you know more then.
Took one of their bundles since it included the filters which was less expensive than buying them separately. So now I have 4 lens cleaning kits 😄
OK, so here's the update. The big brown truck delivered the big brown box about 2hr back. Have to admit I took off some time from work to open the box and try out the lens. I got the Tamron 10-24mm DII VC HLD for my D7200 and the first photos I've taken so far have been very positive. The outdoor shots had excellent color rendition and their was no apparent problems with corner sharpness across the entire zoom range. I took the photos in A mode so as to check at the widest apertures and everything looked great.
Will be taking some indoor photos later on but so far, I have to say that I'm extremely pleased with the lens and see it becoming one of my favorites. Thanks again to all for the advice and input you shared.
