I'm thinking about buying one for my eyeglasses! I have two lick-happy pugs.

I've heard nothing but good about them...so i got one (not here yet) and it was cheap...about 5.00.

Here is one review.

Just curious.

I remember MTSHOOTER highly recommending a certain type of lens wipes (similar to wet wipes) for cleaning lens but I don't recall what the brand was?

If used correctly, they appear to work well. But a tiny tiny grain of sand or grit can ruin your day - keep the LensPen cap on!
.

I did buy a LensPen several years ago but when I saw what it was - a relatively hard material to be rubbed on my precious lenses - I decided not to take any chances for the very reason Festina Lente gives.

I have lenses for my old Exakta VX IIa that are now over 65 years old. They are pristine.
They have, as have all my lenses, only been cleaned with a soft sable brush that is never touched by my hands and my own breath.
If I should get a fingerprint on a lens I very gently use a piece of old, well laundered cotton tee shirt or a microfiber cloth AFTER the lens is blown and brushed off.

They are the Wall mart Zeiss brand.

A cotton t shirt is softer and better than this soft microfiber material on the LesPen that's kept under a cap when not in use?

That doesn't make sense to me...but...to each his own.

The material on a lenspen isn't hard..it's a microfiber cloth cover.

The brush end seems fine. I "clean" them on a microfiber cloth. I think the pad end is scary.

I guess I don't get what's scary about it?

How is it scary? It's a flexible tip with a microfiber covering....how is that scary?

rpavich,

With all due respect there is a single layer of some kind of fabric on top of a rubber pad. I guess I am not convinced that the pad is nearly soft enough for my lenses. It is certainly firmer and far less sensitive than a little piece of cotton or microfiber cloth on my finger tip.

Perhaps I am overly cautious.

Mickey

Too easy to embed dirt in and then grind into the next surface? I don't trust the wiper in the cap.

I wash out my MF cloths and only use a surface once per cleaning (creative folding).

Sounds like you already have the perfect lens cleaning system, Lens Pugs. :-)

I didn't take offense; I didn't know why you said what you said.

I do think you are too cautious as you said.

They make a much larger (about a square inch) cleaning device for the LCD view screen. Works great.

I use a LensPen on not only my lens' but also on filters, and Binoculars, and on every scope on all my rifles. I like them, and the product works. 8-)
