Who here uses a LensPen to clean their lenses?

I've heard nothing but good about them...so i got one (not here yet) and it was cheap...about 5.00.

Here is one review.

works great on lens, not worth a crap on the view screen though...I've had one for about 3 months now and really like it.

I use a LensPen to clean my filters. I carry one with me any time I carry a camera. It's particularly valuable outdoors if there is any dust / pollen etc in the air. I always use the brush end. I only use the cup end if there is a fingerprint or other smudge on the filter.

I like them. I get better results than with a lens wipe.

I do!. But I use the real LensPen brand; they also make one called a DigiKlear for the LCD screens, works great.

Be careful about using a lenspen on any polorizing filters, lens pen recommends against it. I also read a thread somewhere, where someone ruined a CPL with one.

The above review appears a tad tyro which was subsequently confirmed by the author's concluding statement: "I think the LensPen is freakinÂ’ awesome!"

I have about 8 LensPens, all new and unopened. They arrived one by one as a bonus when purchasing other gear from various suppliers.

If used correctly, they appear to work well. But a tiny tiny grain of sand or grit can ruin your day - keep the LensPen cap on!

I don't suggest they be used for cleaing the camera end of your lens, and never ever even think about cleaning your camera's sensor with one as one YouTube video shows.

I find carrying one LensPen a handy emergency option while in the field, but I clean my glass when returning home using what I consider a safer dampened disposable cotton cloth with a specialized clens cleaning liquid method.
I'm probably just over cautious, but some of my albino Canon lenses are too expensive for me to take unnecessary pennywise chances.

I use a LenPen, as a touch up cleaning tool only. If the lens is really dirty, and there was a possibility of some grit on it, I would not use any dry cleaning device.

As far as cleaning a sensor with one, no way. A fellow over in the UK, sent his DSLR to a shop to have the sensor cleaned, it returned with a bad scratch on the sensor. After much deliberation, the shop agreed to replace his sensor. It was cleaned with a lenspen product.

PS: Overuse of a LensPen can also damage, (remove) the coating on your lens. (Be Careful with those lenspens)

Not only do I use them on my lenses, but on my sensor as well! Believe me I was nervous about using it on the sensor but after reading many positive reviews on it including one by the guy that does the "The Digital Picture" I gave it a try as a good bit of my time in post processing was being spent in cloning dust spots off my pictures. I used a pen on my sensor and the camera is new again.... It is a much less expensive alternative to purchasing the swabs and fluids, I have read reviews from people saying that they have cleaned their sensors hundreds of times with no ill effects. If it is good enough for the sensor, it has to be good enough for the lens. Just follow proper cleaning technique buy removing dust any dust and grit with a brush and lens cloth first and then use the pen only after all loose particles have been removed.

That's weird; here is what 2filters.com had to say about it:

Quote:
The LENSPEN is a perfect tool for cleaning binocular lenses. Lenspen's work excellent on small aperture spotting scopes, camera filters and telescope eyepieces.

The Lenspen when tested by 2filter.com on large Plossl telescope eyepieces was a perfect field tool. 2filter's tech people have tested Lenspen's on all of 2filter.com's multicoated camera filter brands, the super DHG coated circular polarizers and the B+W Mrc multicoated filters, the genuine Lenspen's work.

And lenspen makes a filter version that's flat but seems to be the same except for that feature; the shape.

I do and LOVE them. I purchased a 'kit'. It comes with 3 of them in different sizes and they are all wrapped up in a very soft microfiber cloth with inserts for each 'pen'. Not only good for cleaning the lens but also good for cleaning the view finder as well. I do use it on the display screen because I have an optical glass screen protector over it. (love that too) I would never use a 'cleaning solution' for the lens or the view finder. I am hesitant to use the one for the filters but really do not have that many anyway. I purchased them for less than $18 but just looked on Amazon and they raised their price to $39.99. "Shame on you Amazon". Also beware of imitations. Many are 'called "LensPen" but are not the real thing. Google it to find the genuine product.

use blower first ,then lenspen.the coating of the tip gets dirty over a time, also you can fog the lens first and then use lenspen.
