Will let you know Tommi, might be a week or so tho. We have had torrential rain here, off and on, over the last few weeks. Now we have Cyclone Cook bearing down so might be a while before I get outside to take pics. Pity the LX100 isnt weather sealed.
Cheers

I have had the LX100 on my wish list for a long time as a grab-and-go Camera for things like indoor events. parties, etc., where its portability and low-light capability would be a plus. I've been on the lookout for a good deal on a used US version, but most of the really good deals I've seen on EBay have been for the non-US version (non-English menus). On Amazon they seem to be holding their price pretty well, likely die to the fact the are a great camera and in demand.

Yeah. I know what you mean Basil. In NZ I've rarely seen them advertised for sale, new or used. I was actually looking originally at the LX10 but due to a number of reasons, (price, no viewfinder etc) had decided I would just stick with the LX3 that I'd had for years. Then I saw the LX100 mentioned on UHH, quite awhile ago, and it wasnt till this one unexpectedly surfaced that 'I fell in lust again'

Well, have had a couple of days stuck inside the house due to the weather. Cyclone Cook was a bit of a non event for us here but still brought enough rain and wind to make going outside with a non weather
proof camera a no-no.
On the plus side have had time to get to know some of the quirks of the LX100.
This is a camera that needs a lot of tweeking to get full value from the sensor. I've never needed to refer to a camera manual as much either. But it has been worth it.
On the plus side.. It can take great pics! If you make the effort. It won't fit in a jeans pocket BUT it does fit in a normal trouser pocket and as I don't wear jeans other than for working around home, that's fine with me. The EVF is the best I've seen and for me works fine with spectacles. The leaf lens cap is very nifty and works well.
Negatives, so far. Slow start up is one. As expected with a small camera, it's easy to touch a button inadvertently, and then wonder where the settings went. The rotating dial control is very sensitive and easy to bump, again bringing up a surprise in the viewfinder.
All these things tho I think are just a matter of getting used to the camera and in a couple of thousand shots will not be a niggle.
Not a camera tho, IMO, for someone who wants to use it on auto.
If anyone is interested will post my impressions after using it in the field for a week or so.
Too early to say if my brief affair will become a deeper relationship.

Getting my lx100 & pleather case on the 22nd. Can't wait. Was at one time considering the LX10 but lots of 'just OK' reviews changed my mind. Now to gift my old LX3.

Just a suggestion Richard. Download the TWO Instruction Manuals and have a read. (easier to see the free downloaded versions than read the tiny print in the supplied hard copy).
That way I found it easier to find things than waiting till when I had the camera in my hand.
The menus are similar to the LX3 but there are more and they are 'deeper' than the LX3.
The jpeg's are okay but I do think the real value is in the RAW files.
Good luck and enjoy the wait

Well Ive now had a few weeks 'playing' with the LX100.
To sum up my impressions I would say if you want a good alternative to your larger DSLR, one that you can carry in your pocket (a big trouser pocket, not slim jeans), an ideal travel camera then go for the LX100.
Some caveats: be prepared for a learning curve to get the best results.
Make sure you check that it will turn off 'battery useage' when the camera is turned off. (mine doesnt and am up for a $200 bill to get that rectified - bugger). Mine was out of warranty and now I know why the guy was selling it. Still, once repaired Ive still got a bit of a bargain as it had only done about 400 activations.

Ive never owned a camera that has captivated me to the extent that the LX100 has. Very ideal for anyone that has owned a Leica M3. The layout of dials etc and handling this little beauty takes me back years.
Old D7200, sitting in his camera bag, keeps yelling "take me out for a walk".

Here's some links Ive found that might help if you are contemplating a purchase, .

The pic below was taken from waist height, not sure where the point of focus ended up.
