I have been using a little LX3 as a pocket camera, almost since they were released here in New Zealand. Still takes good pics if I don't want to print them too big but I really like the look of the LX100 and have the opportunity to buy one, second hand, at a good price.
It's as a carry around when I don't want to carry the D7100 with it's always on 24-70 2.8 lens.
I've done the Google thing and read the reviews, most good, some criticising, some preferring the Sony RX IV.

I know the LX100 isn't a pocket camera but I can cope with that. It's still a lot less to carry than the Nikon. I like the zoom range as it's the same as I mainly use on the SLR, so that's all good.

Anyone on here using one that can help me make the decision?

The LX100 is a great little camera, and capable of taking excellent sharp images.
The only advice that I would give is to play around with the customisable image settings. Nearly everyone agrees that the out-of-the -box noise reduction setting on this camera is way too aggressive, resulting in soft mushy images which can initially look as if there's something wrong with the camera! Do an internet search for alternative settings for this camera, and it will make a huge difference to the image quality.

Expanding on Lupin's comments, here are some settings recommendations:

I bought the Lumix DMC-G7 a couple of months ago and am still learning all the options

Tony,
Check out this discussion on DPReview. It gives an excellent set of custom settings to obtain optimal JPEG images with the LX100:-

The Panasonic LX100 is a vast improvement on the LX3 to LX7 line mainly because the sensor is a Micro 4/3 at least four times or more area than it's predecessors and it has an excellent electronic viewfinder built-in.

Thanks Linda. Interesting website. And some good comments about the LX100.

Thanks Lupin. I had come across this discussion over the weekend.
I tend to set my camera(s) up to my own specs but some good starting points in that thread.
Do you use an LX100?
Cheers

Thanks for your comment.
I guess the EVF could be described as excellent but from a brief play with the camera I found it a little difficult to get used to after only ever having an OVF on SLR's.
Having said that, one of the reasons for considering the LX100 is definitely the option to use the viewfinder.
I sort of got used to the screen on the LX3, but have never been really comfortable with it and on bright days it was often very difficult to compose pics.
So the viewfinder is a plus for me.
Cheers

All I can do is offer you my standard set of comparison links. I am a big fan of carrying a compact when the need arises. I recently got a Sony A6000.

Read comparisons and specs, and decide what features are important to you.

Thanks Jerry. I'll work my way thru your list. Some new ones I haven't looked at there.
Today is decision day. If I don't buy it privately the owner is going to advertise it for sale.
Probably a silly reason, but one of the features I love about it is that I was a long time Leica M3 user (and still own 2 of them along with a number of lenses) nd it reminds me of the old days.

Still, am a bit surprised, and disappointed, it doesn't seem a very popular choice here on UHH.
Most of the reviews seem to rate it well but it's not that common here in NZ either.
Maybe it's the NEW price that puts people off.

The price on the LX100 is high. Panasonic is not very popular except for the GH but then they only use it for video. However, I am thinking of buying one myself.

I looked at the LX100, ZS100, and the LX 10 to replace my LX3. I have decided upon the LX10. My Pentax covers the ZS100 and the LX10 seems to be the upgrade route for me vs the LX100. These are all great cameras and you need to know just what and how you will be using the carera.

Well, spent a couple more hours wading thru comparisons and reviews (thanks again Jerry) and have now bought the LX100.
Looks like new and has the leaf auto lens cover and spare battery. Still boxed. Paid NZ$660.
Will give some impressions in a week or so when I've had a 'play' if anybody is interested.

I looked at the LX10 too as it's quite a bit smaller but the lack of viewfinder was a bit of a deal breaker for me. Also the faster lens on the LX100 was a factor.
The main thing of course was the price!
The LX10 here in NZ, new, was over twice the price that I paid for this 'good as new' (hopefully) LX100.
Was going to sell the LX3, but they are going for next to nothing here, if you can find one, so will keep it in the car for 'emergencies'
