I just got a 5dm3. Wow, the new sensor is great! Image quality is better than my 5dm2 in low light. And I got a great deal from a friend.
The 7d is a crop frame but an excellent camera.

Yes, suppose to be a great camera I have the 7D and the 5D Mark II, but the fps are slow on those cameras and for any action shots it needs to be faster. The 1Dx[yes, tons of $] will be out soon and now that will be the camera to recon with if Canon does it right the first time and not have any initial issues like in the past. Like the 5D mark III you have. You know with the light from the top info screen leaking into sensor and fixing with electrical take. I guess a fix is a fix, but common black tape. I'm waiting for the 1Dx. OUCH!

A previous poster, on page 3, asked him where he was from.

No apologies necessary. But, quoting a reply will let others know where you're coming from (no pun intended).

The light leak only happens in one situation and you have to turn on the top led light. Looking thru the lens and adjusting there is what most people do 99 percent of the time.

I've shot sport with my 5d m2 since I got it. Before that I had an XT. I rarely use the fps feature. I grew up on a Speed Graphic 4x5 and Yashika 2 1/4 square. You had to anticipate the action. I have great sports pictures because of learning anticipate the action. As a funny aside, I was taking photos at a horse track and with the mk2 used the fps feature at the finish line. I got three blank images (the shutter when off between horses) and one shot of a horses rear end. If I shot one or two the old fashion way, I would have had two useable shots.

Try this with your camera's, tell yourself that you are going to only shoot 12 or 24 photos but 8 or 16 photos have to be useable. That exercise teaches patience and makes you more carefully evaluate the potential photo. BTW: when I was in high school and we were running low on film, my newspaper adviser would had me a roll of 12 and tell me that he wanted 8 useable photos.

Overall, it's the photographer. The equipment only gives you more options. I took alot of good sports photos on my old rebel XT and it isn't a fraction of the cameras you own. I own the two 5d's because of the larger sensor (lens have no crop factor), and for low light which I have to shoot a lot of photos in without flash.

You really have good equipment. Look in the photo mags and see the number of prize winning photos are shot with your equipment.

You have good stuff. Change if you want but do it because you need more photo options. If you don't need those options, then don't move. Also, with either 5d, you really need to invest in "L" series lens. All of mine are fixed aperture and "L" series, F2.8 or better, except for one.

Good luck in you decision.

So I guess all the Pros that shoot with the 1D mark III and 4 are wasting their hard earned $ buying those cameras. I think not. Yes you can take great photos and capture only 3 or 4 or 5, but getting 10-14 as in the 1Dx will allow you to get more better shots and as pro as you might think you might be any person will tell you that the more images you get the better chance you will have to get the right one. I've see plenty of people shooting with Rebel cameras and get great shots. I shoot baseball and tennis and the fps are significant when doing the higher fps.

Bottom line is more fps are and will always be better then less. If your not into sports then all other cameras are great for those picts.

Also sorry about the remarks about the where the other gentlemen was from, my error

If I lived in another climate, I would own a 1d. I don't need the water resistant bodies and some of the other features. The 5dm2 was know for have a slightly better image that the 1d at that time. I don't know how the new 1dx's image is going to be. It should be pretty good. I don't need or use most of features my camera's have now. And the rest of my friends who are professional photographers don't either but they each may use different features. I was just hired as a stringer for a major paper. I know a guy who's pictures were and are being put in National Geographic archives. Many of them where shot with 600 dollar Olympus. He now has a 5dm2.
You seem to be missing my point. I'm trying to tell the original poster that you buy a camera to fit your needs. He has good cameras and he may not need to move to something else.
