I purchased a Sony 24-70 a mount G lens used from Amazon. The lens cap supplied is too large for the camera. So, I'm trying to find a suitable lens hood. B&H sent the link for a Vello hood (77mm). Reviews are mixed on the Vello. Any guidance as to how to obtain a suitable lens hood is greatly appreciated. PS: A vendor on Amazon lists an OEM lens cap for $100.

You might consider a rubber lens hood that can be set to 2 or 3 lengths to adjust for different focal lengths. I have one and it's great for photographing through windows as you can put it up against the glass and avoid window glare and reduce shake (I use it when traveling in a car or bus). Since it collapses it takes up less room in my case. And they are not expensive. Make sure you get the right diameter for your lens. Here's a link to the one I have.

Reviews are always mixed on B&H. You go for the positives vs the negatives. If 80% are positive and 20% are not, doesn't mean that item is completely worthless. Vello sells aftermarket photography items for less. And has a good reputation at B&H. And if you don't like it, return it.

You mention Cap and Hood, which please? Or both? And I would notify the person that sold the lens to me and get the proper hood on cap or whatever.

Good answer I have rubber screw-in hoods to use when I have a filter on a lens that will not allow for the standard hood to be attached

I would never spend $100 for a lens hood. Ridiculous. Either do without or try the Vello

I'd get the Vello. If it just doesn't work for you, return it.

Are you talking about a lens cap or a lens hood? Confusing!

Absolutely correct. Multitasking leads to errors. Thanks for the reply...
