Mistakes happen, and I don’t like to bash any company when they screw up, but enough is enough. I’ve bought nearly all my gear, new and used, from B&H the past 40 years, and have often highly recommended them here. No more. About 1 1/2 years ago I ordered a used lens, the tripod collar was missing. Then I ordered a used Leica M39 mount lens, received a Nikon zoom. Then I ordered a new lens, received it with the wrong mount, even though the lens’ mount was clearly marked on the box. I must be a glutton for punishment, because I ordered a used tripod. According to my order record on their web site they shipped a Ries J100 with an A200 head. Friday I received a J600 with the A200 head. Here’s the kicker - the invoice says it’s a J901 kit, which Ries says they never heard of! In each case B&H customer service has been top tier, I have no complaints there. But the sloppy handling of these botched orders has done it for me.

Did you tell B&H about your previous problems when they occurred?

I'm sure Herschel will reply.

I have recently had problems with usps too... with packages that either "dissappear" or just sit in warehouses for weeks... and learned from the usps that delivery services are sometimes "subbed out" to no-name companies that they have no control over and have absolutely no accountability and horrible service. I've never understood someone having someone do a job that has someone else do it. Let's get 16 "middle men" and we can for sure guarantee quality control. I was born in the wrong generation, and taking a job and seeing it through yourself to ensure your customers are satisfied is a thing of the past. Quantity over quality comes to mind!

I suppose the same reason people get on here and tell us what a godsend B&H happens to be. Did you raise the same complaint to them or do you just cherry pick those who criticize the merchant?

B&H has always bent over backwards for me. If I need something they make shopping easy. I'm a very satisfied customer.

I had been much more pleased working jobs without a Union than I ever was working in a Union job. YMMV but that has been my experience...

Sorry you are having problems with B & H. I have been doing business with them for 5-6 years. I have purchased $$$$$ my wife may see this. I have had a few problems over that time, but they have always been right there right away and taken care of it with no problems. I think this country has a real problem with its workers and lack of p***e in thier work. Nothing like it used to be. I am almost 66 years old and my generation was always proud of what we did. You can do as you please but I will still buy almost all my stuff from B & H. Thanks

Tom

My guess is you will never see another error from B&H again if you stick with them.

Maybe so, but I don’t intend to find out.

Sure, I went to customer service each time. Shouldn’t have to go through them before ordering.

That was my experience - until the last 18 months.
