I am considering buying a Canon 7D Mark II from this outfit on Ebay. I know it will be a "gray" item. My question is, has anyone had any issues with any "gray" camera bodies? I have had a Canon 24-105L Lens for years and it is fine. I would also buy a Square Deal warranty. Thanks.

"Gray" items, as you probably know, in this case, a 7D ll is exactly the same camera as one you would purchase in your home country. Possibly even the very next camera off the production line. Many people here purchase these items, no issues at all. Many advocate NOT purchasing them, mainly, and quite correctly due to any possible warranty issues. You will always get the body repaired, but could take much longer to repair.
For me the things to consider are as follows:- 1, Is the saving enough to make the possible warranty repair delays an issue? 2, How likely is it that you will actually need a warranty repair? 3, Consider and potential resale values which will be less with a Gray purchase, this of course may not be an issue depending on how long you would keep the camera. Eventually over time the none Gray, and the Gray will converge on price.
As long as you have considered all the benefits and drawbacks, then the decision is entirely yours to make.

With 20,000 ratings and a rating of 99.99%, they sound safe. You also have ebay and PayPal as security. Square Trade would be a good idea, considering the limitations of the seller's warranty.

Thanks for your input. Hopefully I have put aside the warranty issue by purchasing a Square Deal warranty. I usually buy my equipment from the Canon Refurbished Website, but they have been out of stock for several months for this particular model. I wish cost wasn't an issue, but I was waiting for the social security to get a raise this year, well that's not happenong, so.... here I am.

Thanks. I did some research on Square Deals that it was all positive.

Thanks for the link. I looked at them, but they didn't seem to have many positive comments, but the price is good.

You'd be better off checking with KEH for a good used Canon 7D. They are completely checked out, money back if you are
not happy, and comes with a warranty, a no brainer.

I feel new is new and if not eBay will get your money back+ shipping. I try to buy from someone with 100% feedback. I have 1100 positive feedbacks (100%) because I will go out of my way to insure happiness.

Of course I have purchased from Deals-all-year, because I am the self admitted Queen of Gray. I dropped my nieces Canon T3 out of a moving golf cart one day - so I replaced it with a Canon t6i that I bought from Deals all year because the price was Amazing! ($570 back in June) Camera came super fast, looked perfect, seems to work perfect - no problems so far. The only problem now is that my niece got a new job and has quit photography - owell - I tried

I have seen many many Canon D7 Mark II that are USA on ebay. Check the sold for down the left column, I am sure you can come close with a USA model to that gray market. Just be patient. I am sure you can get another at fairly close to the same price.

Honestly, if buying a Canon I don't see much wrong with buying grey market. Canon will still repair them at a cost of a normal out of warranty repair. Nikon won't. Also, of all the Canon products I've owned, only 1 of them needed warranty repair. It was a Canon 7D. I've had a T2i, 7D, 5D III, 5D IV, 1D IV and now a 7D Mark II. I don't know if I'd buy a grey market body or not, but my common sense tells me that it probably isn't that bad an idea if the savings is great.
