I guess you make too high of a bid and that's why you won even you bid quite early on.

I'm the only one that has bid so far...I'll take it for $25 (or up to $43) and double my money. I recently paid $80 for one, which is still a bargain.

My problem is placing a bid on a similar or identical item that I already purchased and received a while ago but forgot about; usually a minor accessory item, such as a lens cap, step-up ring, release cable, etc. Perhaps I should keep a detailed inventory checklist on what I have and what I still need to buy, in order to prevent double purchases in the future. And keep the list in front of me when I'm looking on eBay.

Consider using EZ Sniper. It lists all the things you want to bid on and how much you are willing to pay.

As I age it seems that my memory fails me on occasion. A while back, I bought a tripod for travel, but could not find it when I went on a trip. After several months I decided that maybe I only thought about buying that tripod and thought I actually had - so I bought another. Now I find I have two so I'm faced with the problem of which to keep.

I can understand that situation perfectly. I was once bidding on similar items, fortunately, someone else outbid me on one of them.

Don't feel bad, I have done the same thing. Some times you can recall your bid if it isn't too late.

As one of my other friends just pointed out...I just would have meant that if I won it (which I didn't) that I'd have to get either the 90-250mm f2.8 or 300mm f2.8 to go with it. It would have only cost me another $2-3K to use with a $50 teleconverter. Makes perfect sense
