I own this lens for a Nikon mount. (D750) I have shot high school girls softball and had good success. I think it might not preform that well with a faster sport. I have used it for landscapes and am very happy with it. I dropped it the first day I had it and broke it in half. Contacted it and Sigma told me the repair was $350.00. When it was a returned there was a note saying my card wasn't charged. They said the lens looked brand new (It was) and Sigma wanted me to have a good experience with it. They stated if it happened again they would have to charge me. WOW I thought what company does that? I guess Sigma does.

I had a couple of questions on my 150-600C and contacted Sigma. The support department was absolutely superb. They took the time to fully answer my questions and gave me some very valuable information as well. Also there is a 'Dock' available that supports the lens allowing updates and;

Customize: Autofocus, OS, Focus
Compatible with Global Vision Lenses
Sigma Optimization Pro software in order to connect a photographers lens to their personal computer to update firmware and other parameters such as focus, and for the Sports category.

Gene, I am so envious of that cardinal. Wonderful shot. I have cardinals here but they are too elusive to shoot.

I have the Contemporary and love it. Opted for it because it is smaller and lighter than the Sport. I also wanted the extra 100 mm.

Looked at the 200-500, Sport, Contemporary and the original Tamron. Ended up with the Sport - it produces visibly better images than either the Contemporary, the original Tamron or the 200-500. I've only shot a couple of pics with the Tamron G2 and found it to be just as sharp as the Sport, btw.

I've been using a 600mm F4, but wanted something portable that did not require a tripod. Sample hand-held image below, shot at 600mm this past Wednesday.

Very nice.

Thank you for the info. I just ordered the Sigma 160-600 Contemporary from Adorama yesterday and the Sigma Dock came with the lens free. Great deal. I'm looking forward to receiving it. I use a Nikon D750. I would appreciate any tips on the lens use.

I am using the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary on my Canon 7D MKII with superb results. A very fine lens IMO.

Using the Tamron Original with the older 7D shot handheld yesterday from about 50 yards.

I have that combination and also purchased the Sigma TC1401 1.4x converter. I am very happy with the combo with and without the converter. I use the converter when doing astrophotography.

Why use with a full frame and not a crop camera, or do you intend to crop in post?

An exhaustive test comparing the two Sigma lenses and the Nikon 200-500mm was done by Brad Hill in 2015. In it the Sigma Sport came out top. See: http://www.naturalart.ca/voice/blog.html
Long read but worthwhile imo. Personally I prefer the 300mm PF f4 + TC1.4 III combo as it's much lighter though less flexible and more expensive.

Perhaps because it is a full frame lens. Geesus.
