Every LCD I have, except the TV, protected with a plastic stick-on. I used to use Zagg, but they're not easily available now. The protectors I have are mostly marked.

Its always good to have one. Vello lcd protectors are really good. I have double protection - the vello and on top of that the regular one that came with the Camera. I take extra precaution.

I use a piece of very clear packing tape on the screen. I look for stuff that is absolutely clear and that doesn't have too strong a glue, so I choose it carefully. For 90% of the scratching that occurs to my screens, that works just fine. A really good, hard shot usually would hurt the LCD as much as the glass protector. Replacing LCD's is not rocket science anyway if your half way handy.

I have a Vello glass (very thin) protector on my Nikon D7100. And, I love it. On my Sony A580, I have a snap-on plastic protector. It works, but is not a very elegant solution.

Are either worth the cost? Yes, at least in my book. 👍👍

I have never had one on my cameras. I feel the view is diminished by using one. I did have one on my iPhone 4S but took it off 2 years ago. It's 5 years old and still no scratches. I really prefer not having one. I don't think there are any scratches on any of my screens and I can clean them with a soft lens cloth. I also discontinued UV filters on my lenses. Just a personal choice. I'm careful with my equipment.

I tend to disagree with you about the filters, and I used to keep one on my walk-around lens. If you hit the filter hard enough to break it, you have probably also broken something in the lens or knocked it out of alignment; in either case it's going to cost some serious money to send it back for repair. A lens hood would probably have better protected the front of the camera. The only good reason I can see for a protective filter is that they are easier to clean, especially in the field, where conditions may be such that you could scratch the lens without the filter.

Screen protectors are like insurance. When you do not need it, it is too expensive and when you do, you do not have enough. I do not understand why people who just spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars on a body will not spend $20 to protect the screen. Sure, a lot people believe that since they never had an accident, they will never have one. But, on the other hand, they buy auto, home, life, and medical insurance. Go figure.

Just because the screen might be cheap and easy to replace, what about the inconvenience and missing pictures?

Thousands? We should only be so lucky. Millions is closer to the truth. For a country that brags about how good its technology, medicine, etc. are, the level of scientific illiteracy is shockingly high, even among the politicians who make the laws requiring such knowledge.

I use screen protectors on all my Canons. I prefer the glass ones. If there weren't useful, why would Nikon include them on some of their models?

I consider it a necessity; but don't get a non-glare one. I usually get expert brand. They go on easy without bubbles and you can't even tell it's there.

I have an old Canon with an articulating screen & I never put a screen protector on it AND I got in the habit of always leaving the screen-side out. Now it is a scratched up mess!

I have a glass one on my phone & just love it!!! I may use glass on my cameras from now on (the jury is still out on this one because I've noticed a few minute chips on it and I've only had the phone for a few months. Then again, I've dropped the phone a few times. I don't usually drop my camera...knock on wood!)

I've never used on and, despite being a clumsy oaf and bashing umpteen cameras, I've never scratched a screen.
Just lately, having read the discussions about filters I'm thinking of discarding the UV filters off the fronts of my lenses too as I usually have the hoods attached.

I think you're taking a chance but that's up to you. It only takes one drop to wish you had put protection on your camera. I, also, used to brag about never dropping my camera and was on the fence about UV filters on the lens. Some had them; some didn't. My Sony with the 18-105 lens slipped out of my lap and landed lens down on the concrete. The UV filter saved my lens. Enough said!!!

I have glass on my phone and touch screen still works flawlessly. Is it different for cameras? I don't own any cameras with a touch screen
