FYI: For those of us who love camera please becareful and do not make the mistake I made online... I bought Canon L lens EF 70-300mm f/4.5-6 IS USM online from TheDigital Hunter Camera in New York and they sent me the wrong lens. They sent me EF 70-300mm IS USM and not the L lens. I paid little over 1,600.00 for it. Since it was the wrong lens I spoke with Ben who the store introduced to me as the manager of the store. He asked me to return the wrong lens which I did packaged and sent it back and I have not heard anything since... I called Ben many times and he actually hanged up on me the minutes he heard about the case.... Now I am left with NO LENS and NO REFUND... 1,600.00 will not make me poorer but I do get upset that I made a stupid mistake. For the good folks here in this Forum becareful and do not make the MISTAKE I made.

Contact your credit card theft dept. Tell them everything you did, the date and time and the price. They will try to get your money back or else cut them off from using the credit card. Also tell them who you spoke to. They got my money back from Pro Photo in Fl. I faxed them a copy of invoice, UPS paperwork of shipping it back and them receiving the return and a list of everytime I called them and everything I had against them. Good luck.

Yes right, but Shova lee stated that he had purchased it by using his debit card, not credit card. When it happens, must report to the bank within 90 days if he used debit card. It will be difficulty solved unless he has Thief Protection Insurance. Some banks have Thief Protection Insurance for debit cards and checks. I have it at Bank of America. Shova lee purchased it last Sept. 2011. Second hand for him to contact Attorney General in NY.

Yes, read that after I had posted, left it anyway in case someone else needed the information. Thanks

Call the Better Business Bureau and report it. You may not get your money back but maybe you can help put them out of business.

I'd bet almost anything that they are not members, since that requires making a payment.

$1600.00--I think for this amount, manager Ben deserves a personal "intervention"

Thanks for the warning.....now everyone repeat, call the AG, put them out of business, save other people who haven't found UHH, and also have a better chance at getting your money back in the process.

Good luck!

They always bait and switch. I have seen people get a lens for Japan or Canada when they ordered and American lens.

My experience with Digital Hunter earlier this year was similar, but terminated before an order was placed. All the way up the line they were extremely offensive, abusive, and totally uncaring, eventually calling me an ignorant redneck from Tennessee. (this was not true, since I was born in Mississippi!) They obviously had no intention of selling the advertised product at the advertised price. My understanding about scammers like them, is that they continue their shoddy operations until the heat gets too intense, then just reopen under another name. I took the advice of UHG members and had a far better purchasing experience with B&H.

Call your state atty general's office, they probably have a section that helps with these things, a call from the AG office can work wonders.

1600.00 is a felony in NY, if you dont get your lens or refund. All you have to do is contact the attorney gen and fax them your paperwork, they are usually more than happy to help. Usually all it takes is a phone call from the AG and the store will jump to help you.

I have an online software business and write custom software, I have used the AG a few times, it works, they get real scared when the AG calls.

Also, when you returned the lens you should have received a tracking number to trace the delivery back to the store. With that type of value on the lens you could have purchased insurance for the delivery. Be sure to include all paper work copies for tracking and insurance when you contact your local AG.

I don't think we are hearing the whole story otherwise the buyer wouldn't blow off the loss so quickly. Nobody uses a debt card with pin over phone or net. That means the card would be used like a credit card and a case can be opened with MC or Visa or the bank. If its a credit union issued card, I don't know??

Good point I have had internet debit card problems with my bank (Wells Fargo) on all three occasions they gave me a provisional credit while they investigated. All three time they successfully resolved the issue and I haven't lost any money.

If you have a debit/credit card attached to your checking account, ALWAYS use it as a credit card. As a credit card you have consumer protection. As a debit card, you have none.

This is not entirely true. My wife had a problem with false charges on her debit card. The bank investigated it and gave her every dime back. My son went thru a similar situation and also got his money back. All they had to do was sign an affidavit stating what had happened and that it was true to the best of their knowledge. Go to the bank and they will help you.
