FYI: For those of us who love camera please becareful and do not make the mistake I made online... I bought Canon L lens EF 70-300mm f/4.5-6 IS USM online from TheDigital Hunter Camera in New York and they sent me the wrong lens. They sent me EF 70-300mm IS USM and not the L lens. I paid little over 1,600.00 for it. Since it was the wrong lens I spoke with Ben who the store introduced to me as the manager of the store. He asked me to return the wrong lens which I did packaged and sent it back and I have not heard anything since... I called Ben many times and he actually hanged up on me the minutes he heard about the case.... Now I am left with NO LENS and NO REFUND... 1,600.00 will not make me poorer but I do get upset that I made a stupid mistake. For the good folks here in this Forum becareful and do not make the MISTAKE I made.

What is the address (email) for this store... Perhaps we fellow members ought to send them an email assailing their policies...

There are many scam warnings related to TheDigitalHunter.com URL. Perhaps so many that the location changed its name to HuntForDigital.com. The link for this is actually routed to:
http://www.resellerratings.com/store/The_Digital_Hunter.

Sorry you lost the lens AND money. That's not right at all.

Take my advice, NEVER use debit card when you purchase from the online and order on the phone. Always use CREDIT CARD which is much safer than debit card. Sorry to hear about your situation. My accounts at Bank of America have Thief Insurance coverage on my debit card.

also for that kind of money you ought to be able to sue in small claims court. FYI unless it is a big well known retailer like adorama, b+hphoto, Keh, ritz, calumet etc, ALWAYS CHECK THE REAILER OUT AT RESELLERRATINGS.COM save yourself a headache. You could also contact canonusa, maybe they can intervene.

Adorama, Amazon, B&H, and ebay (for used). That's about all I use. The next time you want to shop online at a Brooklyn store, check this site. http://donwiss.com/pictures/BrooklynStores/

There are lots of honest retailers and camera stores in Brooklyn, but...

1600.00 is a felony in NY, if you dont get your lens or refund. All you have to do is contact the attorney gen and fax them your paperwork, they are usually more than happy to help. Usually all it takes is a phone call from the AG and the store will jump to help you.

I have an online software business and write custom software, I have used the AG a few times, it works, they get real scared when the AG calls.

Great advice. You just have to hope that they are still doing business under that name. When I Google that name, I keep seeing the same word: scam.

Contact your credit card theft dept. Tell them everything you did, the date and time and the price. They will try to get your money back or else cut them off from using the credit card. Also tell them who you spoke to. They got my money back from Pro Photo in Fl. I faxed them a copy of invoice, UPS paperwork of shipping it back and them receiving the return and a list of everytime I called them and everything I had against them. Good luck.

If you have a debit/credit card attached to your checking account, ALWAYS use it as a credit card. As a credit card you have consumer protection. As a debit card, you have none.

Yes right, but Shova lee stated that he had purchased it by using his debit card, not credit card. When it happens, must report to the bank within 90 days if he used debit card. It will be difficulty solved unless he has Thief Protection Insurance. Some banks have Thief Protection Insurance for debit cards and checks. I have it at Bank of America. Shova lee purchased it last Sept. 2011. Second hand for him to contact Attorney General in NY.
