Having done a bit of E6 processing & color printing back in the day, although I'm new to the digital world and particularly postprocessing, given the almost unlimited possibilities, I see no reason why I'd want to go back to film. Maybe this is just an academic exercise, maybe an interesting debate but I'm wondering if anyone out there as a different opinion & if so, why.

While I am able to process digitally & was not able to do film, I am sure there are some(RPavich comes to mind) that have found film to be a lot of fun.

I'm glad to see that Ektachrome is back, but I probably won't be using it. I still shoot a good bit of film but only b&w. For color, I'll stick to digital.

You know, I suppose some artists may find Ektachrome and color film processing generally helps them make just precisely the images they are after. People - some very great artists - still use pencil and paper, after all. I totally understand the appeal of film and admire those who are using it, but I hope I never see the inside of another darkroom again in my life.

I started out with B&W film and enjoyed it for the most part. Did not try to tackle color processing. Still have my 35mm Nikon film cameras. Might give some film a shot as a trip down memory lane but for 99.99% of my shooting I will stick with digital.

Don't know how many rolls of Ektachrome I'll buy, but I enjoy shooting B&W film for its impeccable tonal range. Glad to see film is still available in these disposable times.

What he said.

I had a darkroom for B&W for 30 years, and processed E6 for 17. I worked for 3 school portrait companies for 33 years. Had my fill of processing, labs, film, chemical smells. Love Lightroom!

From what I am seeing in the weather reports you may be seeing the inside of a dark room & not have any chemical smells.

Yes, Mother Nature dumped 8" of the FWS on us last night and this morning.

My sister lives in Winterville and she said they got around 3 inches. They are also expecting a low of around 13. Boy I am glad I live in Arizona.

We'd do what my sister-in-law does, and drive North. Of course, Hurricane Hugo hit us in Charlotte in 1989...

I would have probably done that as my grandparents wintered in Tampa, St Petersburg when I was small. However I also was a fan of Zane Grey westerns as a kid and when I was in the Navy one of my buddies had his mother & step dad living in Phoenix and we came to see them on liberty one long weekend. They took us up to Pinetop and I saw Zane Grey's cabin and got to see some of the Mogollon rim country and decided that I was going to live in Az. after I got out of the navy and here I am.
