Nothing wrong with photo manipulation if it improves the photo in a positive way.

Must admit I couldn't decide quite what to do with the foreground Dave. Lightening doesn't seem right because of the sunset position (it was relatively dark in the foreground), so I very nearly darkened it to a near silhouette, but then left it pretty much as it was! I'll try the tad lighter you suggest to see how it looks.

Probably time to admit I've dropped the near flock of birds in from another frame - they just wouldn't fly where I wanted them. The far flock is original.

That seems to be the general opinion here RedArrow, but I feel obliged to mention it at some point.

Yesterday late afternoon dog walk on Shell Bay beach. Heavy cloud blanket was not going to produce a spectacular sunset but the glow was attractive, and the starlings coming to roost in the small reed bed made a decent shot, I think? A few moments later the clouds had closed. Any critique appreciated.

I like it the way it is. Then again, I don't mind a darker than usual photo. Maybe some more detail in the shadows would be nice; but the exposure the way you have it really brings out the colors and that unusual clump of trees is really striking and makes a great composition. The sky is wonderful. You got it just right.

Thanks Erich, glad you approve - I think I've posted those trees previously, with leaves and a brighter sunset!

I enjoyed the mood of this scene, the sky colors and the flock of birds.
