I have played with the pre-release a bit and find it amazing. Using a filter stack you can go to any filter and use adjustments and see the total result through the entire stack. In earlier versions you had to shut down the previous filters then turn them back on to see the overall effect. These adjustments are on raw images and are nondestructive. In the raw converter you can setup presets with filters included to really save processing time. Example: Lets say you used a luminosity mask to process an image using a color filter. Set that as a preset and when you use it on a totally different photo it will apply that mask and filter, but the luminosity mask will be based on that photo. I am telling you this is going to be special.

True on that, but don't forget to mention the speed, almost zero wait time. Also the $99. pre-release price sure beats the stuffings out of the Adobe CC annual rental price, and once again I have a license and not a monthly payment.

I have always used lightroom for cataloguing. Thinking of changing to On 1 raw and doing every thing right there. Still will keep photoshop for the heavy stuff or maybe not.

Love On 1 products. They do almost everything that PS does only better and faster. The prerelease that just came down had bugs and they did a quick fix. Although I had no trouble using it.

I've been using PS6, Bibble (now Corel AfterShot) and ON1 10.5 (just upgraded to On1 RAW. I think that RAW will blow PS/LR out of the water. I really like AfterShot for quick edits. I definitely will keep PS6 for heavy lifting after all the time I spent learning it, but it's nice to have the options…and On1 runs under PS. Very convenient

Not entirely clear whether you are having trouble down-loading the file (if so, contact On1) or using the software (if so, consult On1 or YouTube for training).

Just yesterday they released an update to the beta, with bug fixes. Check their site.

I've toyed with the pre-release in hopes of seeing a future replacement for Lightroom. Haven't yet installed the update that showed up Monday. I have experienced some crashes when switching from Develop mode back to Browse.

I am having a problem getting my arms around the logic of the program though that's likely caused by my many years using LR. It remains to be seen if it will work for me. Looking forward to others comments.

Happy shooting

Thank you all for your input. With all due respect for you and your ability to master LR, my much earlier efforts to remotely approach a useful understanding of LR, which I initially purchased for its reported cataloging features, were a total failure. I found no evidence of logic what so ever. That being said, I now am asking about ON1 Raw vs ACR expecting that it would be competitive in terms of working with Raw files. I was not remotely interested in replacing PS after more than 20 years of continuous use. If ON1 Raw has a cataloging feature that might be of adjunct interest after answering my question re how it compares to Adobe Camera Raw as a Raw file processor.

Have any of you tried to access this program? I find them very complicated and not helpful. Unable to access even if I paid them!

I have not had any trouble with On1. I downloaded the update they sent out yesterday, along with free presets with no problems. I have emailed them one time, and they emailed me back within 24 hours, which I find pretty much inline with other companies. I have not used the software a whole lot as of yet due to lack of time. I experienced some lag/slowness in the develop module which other users have also mentioned. I think some of that may have been addressed in this update, but if not, it will be before the final version is released later this month. As with any new software, there will probably be some issues to iron out. Give them time to do that.

IMPORTANT NOTE: On1 Photo Raw has not been released yet - I believe release is scheduled for 12/19
Meanwhile it is still in pre-release form. Try waiting a few days for the download.

I believe this is correct. Pre=release Photo RAW are beta versions and the site does say release date of 12/19.

I had one lock up that required a reboot very soon after downloading. That was the first day the pre-release became available. Since then I have had no issues. The latest update went in without a hiccup.
