My brother is looking to get a new camera to replace his old Pentax. He is planning on getting either a Nikon D7100 bundle or a Nikon D7200 bundle and was looking on Amazon. The said they have a D7200 bundle for $1174 and an equivalent D7100 bundle for about $300 less. He wants to know if the D7200 would be worth the $300 difference in price. Personally I think it is worth the extra.

He also asked if I ever heard of ZeeTech that has the bundles advertised on Amazon. Here is a link to the bundle offer he is considering:

It says "Ships from and sold by BASE WIRELESS". Has anyone hear heard of "Base Wireless" or "ZeeTech", or have any info on if they are a reputable outfit to deal with? Any information will be greatly appreciated. The price sounds good, but it makes me wonder if it may be too good, kind of like "42nd Street Photo".

Call Cameta Camera. I have made several camera purchases from them including Nikon factory refurbs. They will create a "bundle" to your specs and then price it competitively. They have never let me down, even replacing a camera that had nothing wrong with it after they hit the reset button.

Talk to Enzo and tell him I recommended him and that I said he'll give you the best deal. He has been the most honest salesman I've dealt with in years, but their other staff have been good with me also.

Never heard of Base Wireless.

Contact Nikon and see if they will tell you if Base Wireless is an authorized dealer. You might want to stay away from grey market equipment unless you want to roll the dice and not get the Nikon warranty.

I'd steer clear of that. Why are they offering the 18-55mm lens? That's not usually sold with the D7200. The price is low, suggesting gray market. In the chart at the bottom of the page, the kit next to it is described as "International" - gray market. Adorama and B&H have the body and 18-140mm lens for $1,296. That looks like a better deal. And with Adorama, you get some extras.

Thanks. The responses I've received pretty much reflect what I had already suspected. I told my brother I would suggest not going with it and I sent him links to "B&H", "Adorama" and "Cameta". I recommended that he look on their sites to see what he could find. He did tell me later last night in an email that he had pieced together the D7200 and lenses he wanted at one of the stores I suggested but I don't remember which it was right now.

Thanks to you and to all others that have responded. My brother will be all set soon and now knows which sites he should use when he wants to order anything else for his photography.

I have seen reports that the "ZeeTech" bundles are grey market, and that in the case of Nikon cameras they are not US warranty and will not be repaired by Nikon at all, under warranty or not. This would be consistent with the price, which is several hundred dollars less than US warranteed goods.

James, I'm just curious, has your brother considered a Pentax K-3II from B&H they have it with a free battery grip and bundled with a DA 55-300 its around $1146. If he has Pentax DSLR now then the Lens he has will work with the K-3II, all K mount lens will fit all Pentax APS-C DSLRs and the plus is he will be buying a new camera from a reputable dealer.

I imagine he did look at Pentax. The old digital one he has now is a "Pentax ist D" 6 megapixel and I think it has a "K" mount if I remember correctly. H e has always like it and has taken many really good shots with it all over. He had been looking at Pentax, Canon and Nikon then decided on Nikon after comparing the models he was interested in.
