The buffer on the 500 doesn't matter to me,but the focus system is a definite plus. Now I just need to get focused.

Don't we all. I understand that D500 focus system is in a class by itself.

The options and quickness are definitely attention getters. The touch screen is neat, but I don't do much with it.

Have the D7000 and D7200 in good light no differance. D7200 a little better in low light.

The Nikon D500 was going for $1796 this past Black Friday deals. The D7200 is selling brand new for $1000. Refurbished under $800. That D500 deal was unbelievable, since this camera has only been released in the past several months. I still couldn't afford that for now. There were good 2 lenses D7100 deals too. They are gone now. Next year Black Friday all over again.

Back to the original topic, whenever something is acting goofy, I just hold reset the camera to the default settings (hold down both green marked buttons on the left and right top of camera). Usually takes care of funky camera operation. I also do that before an important shoot and think about how I want the camera to perform for the occasion.

I find that works well for me!

There is some good info on exactly does and not get reset that is worth checking. http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/54873996 is a start and there are some definitive tables available,

I purchased this camera about 1 year ago. Now I am having a problem with slow shutter speed no matter what shutter speed I have set. I have approx 12,500 pics. Looking for help of what I can do about this. Thanks for your support.

I've learned the hard way that with both Nikon and Sony (No experience of this with Canon or Pentax), when all else fails to correct a problem, find the reset menu option to reset the camera to factory initial settings. You will have to set up all your menus again, but I have corrected problems at least four times that way.

Each time, I was sure there was something wrong with them camera when I had just set it up in a way that it couldn't know what I wanted.

Nope it's "dumb ans" not "asses".

I have a d7100 and managed to mess up the settings in a poor light situation. Those two green dots on the body indicating the reset buttons saved the day (actually the night).
