No, no photo. I am sitting here on this drizzly night listening to the Coyotes sing, 1/3 of the way through a bottle of Dalwhinney, pondering my place in the universe (no not really!)

I thought, let's put the vagaries of photography away for day. Yes folks it is the dreaded deserted island thingy. List one book, one recording, one movie (this island has power) you would take with you. You will be surprised at the different tastes but you may be more surprised at the similarities.

Me.
1. The book- Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon
2. The recording- Sketches of Spain - Miles Davis
3. The movie - Blade Runner.

Partake if you wish.

I would but I'm not educated enough randomeyes so I'll sit back and try to gain some from osmosis.

random nice idea if a tad worn but if you do not disclose what it is about the book record or movie that moved it to the top of the pile nothing is actually learnt about the person and it allows very possibly the wrong perceptions to take over. ie if Mr C finds Miles Davis boring he may think that makes you boring. Also it will stop wags such as I giving you a pile of crap in the name of fun ie book 50 Shades of Grey - record Burl Ives Greatest Hits - Movie The Muppets.
So elaborate, reveal your inner soul. Tell us why these three things made you get your rocks off, what moved you, what made the hair stand up on the back of your neck. You do that and I will certainly join in.

I'll play. Though the book, particularly, would change depending on when I'm asked.
1. The book - The Shipping News by Annie Proulx
2. The recording - The Best of Leonard Cohen 2009 edition
3. The movie - The Natural

Further to my answer to random now your choice of record may lead some to believe you suffer from manic depression! Hallelujah, Dance me to the end of love my Bird on a wire.

We're just asking for a favorite book, piece of music and movie. Simple. No psychology required. Can you handle it!!

I can handle very well but others may not handle my choices so well. My book would have been The Bible. So does that make me a devout Christian very religious a disgraced Franciscan monk maybe or what? Or am I pulling your leg? Without an explanation people will jump to all sorts of generally quite wrong ideas about me.
So its your thread my friend and you make the rules and whilst Ill sit on the sidelines I will not participate but I do appreciate your interest. For what its worth I do not actually believe your choice of record means you are boring or min's reveals she is a manic depressive but I cannot speak for others huh
By the way have you heard Burl Ives Greatest Hits? A very moving and iconic piece of music. Whilst short of critical acclaim upon its release it has now of course gained the legendary status among music aficionados which it deserves.

Life is not that deep Billy, when you get older it may dawn on you. I'll sum it up in baseball terms, someone asked the great Willie Mays to explain Baseball, his answer, they throw, it hit it, they hit it I catch it.

Nuttin wrong with a bit o' Swamp Rock cos there's a Bad Moon Rising.
Film a little phallic maybe?
Your book confirms the delight you feel when the Germans get a good kicking.

Am I close?

Billy, you could be, i'm not sure I can analyze it myself, but if I did, they are happy memories of my youth.

Anthem.

But what if, for my music, I'd chosen one of my other favorite albums? Arcade Fire's Black Mirror, or Andrea Bocelli's Toscana, or Eric Bibb's Booker's Guitar? Some of us have rather broad tastes in entertainment as well as photography. Others have more contained sets of preferences. Some of us retain interest in the music (and other stuff) of our youth, while some change interests over time.

We are all different, both in taste and in how that taste plays out.

How long have you been into Eric Bibb? I had all his albums in the UK. One of those people I cannot understand why he never breaks into mainstream and becomes a super star.

I've known about him for a good long while. Mississippi is the home of the Blues so we are pretty up on the Blues masters whether they were born here or not. Got a chance last year to spend several days in his company, he's a fascinating guy and the living master of classic blues IMHO. His music sounds like the music I listened to as a child, lying on the second story floor of my grandfather's furniture store which was above the local juke joint where the greats of the MS delta played on Saturdays in the '50's.
