There are several flat body design "shirt pocket" cameras on the market today - if you want to go super light and have a camera always with you. I would look for models with the EVF, RAW files, moderate zoom with a good wide angle (20-24 mm equivalent).

Panasonic has the new ZS100, which has a moderate zoom, and EVF, and a 1" sensor. Haven't touched one yet, but it looks to be a good one, from what I've read on it. The price is reasonably affordable, too. It's not a bridge camera, but does everything a bridge camera can do, with all the necessary controls, and it's compact. I think the zoom goes out to 200mm, 35mm eq. It, is however, not a constant f/2.8 throughout its zoom range, unfortunately. The FZ200 is the only one that has that constant 2.8 aperture, that I'm aware of.

Check out the Sony's they use a Carl Zeiss lens. I am not talking of any of the Alpha series.

Sony RX100M3. Great for everything but birds-in-flight and wildlife, and it fits in your pocket.

I have a Nikon 7100 laying in the dresser. There were oil spots on sensor I had the choice of
spending 600 to fix and risk return later on or get another camera.
I decided to get the sony a6000. That camera is great x 10. Nice thing is can get adaptors
for Nikon and Canon and use them on the a6000.
Nice thing about the size is it does not attract attention like the dslrs do.
Check out the facebook groups for a6000 a6300 a 6500 look at the quality of the photos.
Slowly getting to where I can tell if the photo is from a sony a6000 camera by just looking
at the photo quality.
Good luck on your adventure in getting a camera.

What price range are you shopping in, and what physical size and functions do you want.
JerryC41 above has given many links. The possibilities are endless.
I bought a Fuji S1 2 years ago - it failed after 2500 shots - Fuji assured me that was extremely unusual - but still charged me $160 for the repair (that is on appeal)
However - I STILL like the camera - but it is no longer available, and you'd not like the high-ISO granularity.
-
For now, I'll still hang on to my 7D Mk-I, 80D, and the Fuji S1.

So much to choose from. I have 2 smaller cameras an Oly tg4 for wet and rugged stuff and a Panasonic fz200. Both are good at what they do.BUT . When I want to take really great stuff I always go for the dslrs and the good lenses. I'm getting old but not too old. I will say a lot of the new very small stuff looks pretty interesting, but, I've got big beat up hands and it just doesn't feel right. Good luck,it's hard to go really wrong.

Another thought, switch from the zoom lens and use a prime in the usual focal range that you shoot, I can lighten my load considerably by switching from my 17-70 Sigma to a 24 or 40mm prime, and it makes the camera less obtrusive.

The more I shoot the tg-4 for work (site work photos) the more I like it. Very responsive little camera.

Yeah - - not too much lighter though: 50D = 822gm, 80D = 730gm (92 grams = 3.2 ounces)
Often a lot of the weight is in the lens
There are always compromises - - if the Canon G3X didn't float your boat, unlikely ANY Bridge camera will fill the bill.
-
I really LIKE the 80D - but it doesn't work with some of my older lenses (that still DO work with my 7D)
I hope you find something that works for you.

OK, have to ask. What are the older lenses that do not work? Canon or a third party brand?
