What a great idea, Minnie. This pp would look awesome as a poster! Frank, please take a photo of it after it's up on his wall

For Your Consideration....wondering if this shot causes a second more thorough look, or maybe keeps the first look looking?

Frank,

Having been around soccer a lot from the spectator role, the photographer role, the parental role, as well as the player role, it is a good action capture - perhaps just a tad late?

Your image, however, has a lot to look at and deserves more than just a single glance worth. I particularly like the people in the bleachers and the expressions on their faces. Of course, the ball in the net is nice, but just a tad late IMHO. The players on the ground and in the net in the foreground are also good and they speak for themselves. All that is great.

As for your processing, what you have done is not my cup of tea nor do I classify it as 'good.' Perhaps as a poster it would be acceptable or so-so, but not as a photo or even a snapshot. I am not meaning to be rude, just honest. I have also taken many action shots of soccer games as well as ice hockey games. Hence, I am fairly familiar with what goes on, how difficult it is to capture the perfect shot, and how much of the games you miss 'watching' and also trying to take photos of the games, which is extremely true and no blarney.

I would classify your image as an educational post for other photographers to view, give their opinions, and to learn from. Frank, seriously, it is very difficult to capture a good action shot during a soccer game, especially with young players as you have done here, but even more difficult at an ice rink during a hockey game no matter what age players they are.

Thanks for posting and for experimenting with your PP'ing and presenting an item that we can all ascertain and learn after looking. Wouldn't it be a true bummer if we always batted 500 when up at the plate . . . . . . . . . . . . ? This one is a little out of the ordinary for you and your usual processing skills. But, getting out of your comfort zone and experimenting is how I learn and many others as well. Thank you once again.

Best Regards,
Tom

I am very impressed with this action shot, it is what I always try for with grandson-soccer and never get (some of that is my fault and some of it is his!). It would be great as a normally processed sports photo, but it's also interesting with this processing, which I happen to like a lot but which may not appeal to everyone as it's a bit radical. Very well done.

I predict this is one he'll LOVE to have as a poster in his room. PLEASE get this one printed for him!
Thanks minniev, it seems my pp on this one is not for the multitudes.

Tom I appreciate your detailed comments and hope you are always honest as that is what I look for here. I have a shot a bit sooner but it didn't have the other impacting elements in it that I felt helped the shot. You are correct about tough shots to get....very low keeper rate and fewer chances with this age group.

Frank,

I am glad you are not upset. I try to be honest, but constructive as well. Saying 'nice' things when they are not really due is just like saying nothing, in my mind. I trust everyone will be honest with my images since that is about the only way one can learn, by constructive criticism and honesty, even though it may not feel real good at the time.

I think most people have an idea as to what kind of comments they may get when posting certain images, so some comments received should not be a real shock . . . unless someone is just blatantly cruel and unkind. There are many ways to express oneself and being outrageous with criticism is certainly not the best way! Thanks for understanding, Frank. You have certainly posted better so many other times.

Best Regards,
Tom

Tom you can even be a bit brash with me long as it's truthful I won't have issue......constructive is the key. I couldn't care less if someone doesn't like my image but if they can't give me a clue as to how I might attempt at making it better I probably won't waste my time responding back.
