Thanks to hurricane Matthew there is one less tree in the world. These photos are of my tree laying on the neighbors house. In the second photo you see a tree that my tree is leaning against. This is the neighbor's dead tree that is supporting my live tree. You would have thought the dead one go down first.
Everyone in the house was safe but whether there is damage to the house itself will be determined when the tree is removed
Glad to hear everyone was safe. Hope your house is not damaged too badly.

Glad you are safe. Dead tree has no leaves, live tree- the leaves are like sails.

Very true!! There is a tree that stands behind this one that is a little bit taller, thicker and fuller; it's still up and fine. Thank you for stopping by to look and comment!!!
Glad no one was hurt. We had the same thing happen with Sandy and were fortunate only the roof was damaged.

Sad to see an old tree having to die!!
I was raised just north of Boston. During one hurricane, a little skinny sapling bent over and caught a great big Maple tree as it was crashing down on the kitchen of our house. When we went outside, the sapling kept that great big tree from crushing the kitchen. No damage at all. When the big tree was removed, the sapling sprang back upright. That little tree went on to grow for many years and eventually replaced the function of the great big tree (shade from the sun in summer).
Hopefully, your neighbor's house will be damage free because of the old dead tree.

Hurricanes are no fun. Glad your experience with Sandy was not worse. Take care and thanks for stopping and commenting.

This is the second tree I have lost due to Hurricanes. The first was taken down by Hurricane Floyd. I loved that tree and it was huge. It would have taken 3 adults, arms outstretched to encircle it. I was grateful that huge beautiful oak only destroyed a section of chain link fence but it broke my heart and I have never felt the same way about the backyard. I've thought of planting another tree but have never gotten around to researching what I would like to replace it with.
Thank you for stopping and looking!!!!

What a brave little sapling and a great story. I am happy it grew into a great tree and I hope it lives for many, many years. Fingers crossed for the house to not have any damage.
Thank you for stopping by and telling that wonderful story.
