I purchased the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens for my Canon Rebel T6s in May. Even on a tripod and a remote shutter, my pictures are not tack sharp. I've read that at 600 mm, it will never be sharp. I had a professional photographer friend use my lens to see what he can capture. He said there was something wrong with the OS, that his focus point does not lock when half pressing the shutter. I sent my camera back to Sigma for AF calibration and a software update. I got the lens back the other day, my photographer friend came over to try it again -- same thing. OS does not lock when looking through the viewfinder. He brought his 50-500 lens with and sure enough, is OS locks when half pressing the shutter. I called Sigma. They told me with this lens has a new generation of OS. Upon further reading about this lens, I guess there are 3 ways to adjust the OS if you have a dock. They set mine to "default." My friend took my lens with him and will be shooting some wildlife tomorrow and will report back. I was wondering if anybody else has this lens and if you have the same issue. Thanks in advance.

I always use OME equipment and have NEVER EVER had a related issue, EVER. Hope you get your lens fixed the way you want.

I have this lens and the image stabilization is outstanding. I also get very sharp images at 600 mm in good light. Beware that at the factory setting, you will not see the image stabilization do anything as you look through the view finder but it is still working. I took a picture in room light of a screen in a window, hand held, with and without stabilization on, when I first got the lens to see if IS was working (because I couldn't see it working through the viewfinder). I got one shot back that was a total blur (IS off) and the other with the screen in focus and pretty sharp (IS on). Mine is on a D7100

I have the lens with my Canon 7D mark II with no problems. Make sure you micro adjust the focus with the docking station first, so that the focus will lock on with the sharpest setting. I have my OS set for the highest setting that is noticeable in the viewfinder. It's a wonderfully very sharp lens, but the micro-focus must be accurate first.

Can you provide a reference for the docking station?
Thanks.

You may be barking up the wrong tree. The problem may not be OS but rather the focus limit settings. The lens has a switch with three settings, each of which restricts focusing to the range of distances shown. I have this lens and it produces razor sharp and in-focus images all the time at 600 mm and f/8. As for the Dock, I would buy it only if you think you will use it. Calibrating it does take some time which I have yet to find.

Good luck and let us know if this helps.

I have the Sport version and I would strongly suggest purchasing the dock, especially since it's only $ 59. I believe the dock to be one of the best features of Sigma's new lenses and I can't wait for Nikon to get on the bandwagon. If you only use it for firmware updates it's worth its weight in gold, but it is much more useful than that. As I have three lenses which can take advantage of it, I figure it only cost me $20 per lens. On another topic, one should not expect a $1000 or $2000 lens to be as good as one that costs 5 to 10 times as much. These are decent, and through personal experience I chose the Sigma Sport over the Tamron, but they are just not TOP quality like their expensive cousins. Finally, using ANY long lens to get the best out of it takes experience and technique, which ONLY comes with practice. Shoot, shoot, and shoot some more. Best of luck!

I was fortunate to but my 150-600 Contemporary when B&H (and probably others) were including the Dock at no additional charge. ]

I've not noticed any issues with focus so far so have only used the Dock to check firmware is up to date.

There are several tools available to do this. Check B&H and on the web.
