I purchased the Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens for my Canon Rebel T6s in May. Even on a tripod and a remote shutter, my pictures are not tack sharp. I've read that at 600 mm, it will never be sharp. I had a professional photographer friend use my lens to see what he can capture. He said there was something wrong with the OS, that his focus point does not lock when half pressing the shutter. I sent my camera back to Sigma for AF calibration and a software update. I got the lens back the other day, my photographer friend came over to try it again -- same thing. OS does not lock when looking through the viewfinder. He brought his 50-500 lens with and sure enough, is OS locks when half pressing the shutter. I called Sigma. They told me with this lens has a new generation of OS. Upon further reading about this lens, I guess there are 3 ways to adjust the OS if you have a dock. They set mine to "default." My friend took my lens with him and will be shooting some wildlife tomorrow and will report back. I was wondering if anybody else has this lens and if you have the same issue. Thanks in advance.

I have the same lens and do not have the issue. I used the lens on a canon 7DM2.

Can you actually see the image stabilize through your viewfinder?

I used it handheld at an airshow with image stabilization turned off.

I have the lens with my Canon 7D mark II with no problems. Make sure you micro adjust the focus with the docking station first, so that the focus will lock on with the sharpest setting. I have my OS set for the highest setting that is noticeable in the viewfinder. It's a wonderfully very sharp lens, but the micro-focus must be accurate first.

I have exactly the same problem as you with my Nikon. I've ordered the dock. Hopefully that will help fix the issue.

At age 73 I couldn't function without autofocus. It is far more precise (and faster) than my cataract, anastigmatic, myopic hampered eyes.

hi stenojj

i have 150-600 sport , when i first received it i thought i had a dud IS did not lock in view finder , but factory setting is like that , if the dock works on cont lens buy one not expensive , you can check for software up dates and change settings , max IS is what mine is set to for hand holding , on this setting you will see it lock in view finder , i also have a 120-300 sport which you can not only see lock but feel as well so they are different
at 600mm the sharpness is fine after calibration , my much cheaper tamron 150-600 is also fine , all my after market lens have needed calibration but once done they are good
i use 7d2 or 6d
the only problem with my 150-600 sport is some times it just stops working all together when camera battery is under 1/3 , play with a few buttons comes good again like turn camera off / on lol
heres one at 600

I don't have the docking station. Wondering if it's worth spending the $59 on. When I sent the lens back to Sigma, they knew the issue. Wonder why they didn't get in touch with me when they had the lens. They could have tweaked it before sending it back to me. Without a docking station, I'll have to send the lens back to them again. The service supervisor gave me his direct number and said he will work with me to get it right.

Please post if the dock helps. If it does, might have to invest in one myself.

The Sigma dock works on ALL Global Vision lenses, i.e. Contemporary/Art/Sport lenses
