Color? What are y'all talkin about? From p 58 of Galen Rowell's Inner Game of Outdoor Photography where he quotes Francisco J. Varelo: Color vision is presented as an example of the concept of that what we see is really an emergent pattern of neuronal activity. Color does not exist in the physical world as a property of light or surface reflectance, but is embodied experientially within us as an emergent qualia. We have no way of knowing if others see "our" blue; all we can know is our own mental reality.
The more we know the more we know we don't know...
True, we do not know if others see "blue" the same way we see it; however, we can determine if they report what we see as "blue" as "blue", too. Over time, a general consensus comes about as to what the different colors are, and even what they are called--we may not perceive them in our minds the same, be we can be trained to identify them according to the general consensus. (Well--it is said that men only know 8 colors and women have thousands, but it's not really true; what IS true is that most men don't make the subtle distinctions in hue if there is no overriding reason to do so--women seem to revel in it, however.) I'm male, and I do know more than 8 color names.
This post was just to see what photographers in general think about the scenario. While most "other" people argue about the color, I see here we have more hard time accepting that it's the same bag :D Even I started to doubt, but from what I've seen, all the photos are taken from he discussions I've read, and should back up the story.
"I am man" as well, like David in Dallas nicely put it
I scored 15, which I guess is pretty good.
