Fantastic theme and beautifully done work, Carla. #2 is very poignant.

Linda, I'm thrilled you were attracted to that one! It was kind of fun, thinking of "Aunt Violet" with aches, pains and snotty nose. Flu season soon upon us,of course. These are all fictional, as was Travesty's "Uncle Al". Sometime maybe I can start a thread for people to post a still life that represents themselves using a few well chosen articles that reflect their personality, made into an artistic composition. That might encourage a few to try this genre. Thank you for your kind remarks and encouragement,as always!

Excellent stills, good stories.

WayneT, I appreciate you stopping by and looking at this. Thank you so much! I do like to have images that tell stories, mostly they are made up. I was hoping to portray the personalities of these fictional characters by using just a few objects that would make a good composition. Thank you for finding them interesting and post-worthy!

Your mission was a big success carlysue! I'm certain all the aunts would love them too!

I am thrilled you found it so,MerryT!! And I'm certain the aunts are pleased, mostly because they are fictional so I give them any attitude I feel I want them to have. Poor Aunt Violet, tho', got the flu and now leaving her snotty tissues on the side table. What ever am I going to do with her! All of my nursing teaching to no avail!

Hey Carlysue! You put a lot of thought into these and it shows. Seems that every photo we do is a learning exercise to one degree or another. Great job!! Cheers, TG

How right you are,TG!! I do find myself never quite satisfied, always questioning lighting, perspective, composition whether still life or landscapes or portraits. But always learning, taking something away from each try and trial. Thank you so much for the generous accolades!!

Very well done. Not what normally would catch my attention but these certainly did

How kind of you to say so,Tazzy. Thank you! I realize that still life images are not everyone's cuppa, there are so many genres to chose in photography. What I love is seeing whatever the topic, that it is done well, interestingly, and with thought. always something to learn. Thank you for looking in and leaving such a wonderful and encouraging comment. BTW, I just spent a bit of time to look at your most recent topic posts and found your images impressive! love your florals and your kitties. And your post work really sets them up a notch. Good work!

Carly, I see a person praying in the last photo. Was that intentional? Your photos have much more depth to them than other photographers here. Your photos make people think! They tell stories. Good job! People should think, it's good for them!

Travesty (Randy) does some amazing still life images and he makes them look simple. What I know is that in this photo genre you have total control over your light, your composition, background, colors...its all on you. And if its unbalanced, uninteresting or missing impact, well that's on you, too! Travesty did a still life image not long ago, Uncle Al. You got to know this character by a few well chosen objects that represented "Uncle Al". I thought I'd give it a try, see how much one could learn about a fictional character with just a few objects.
