Upcoming transit of Venus across Sun's disk, Jun. 5, 2012
All of North America will be able to see the transit of Venus as it crosses the Sun's disk on Jun 5, 2012. This will be the only transit of Venus in our lifetimes as the next one will not occur until Dec., 2117.
Now would be the time to order a solar filter for your camera.
The image below is of the sun that I took on May 10, 2012 and I have added Venus as it should appear. The transit will still be in progress at sunset. Some unusual photos could be possible of the setting sun with Venus.
Venus transit
Welcome to UHH. Great shot of the sun. Thanks
I've been trying to find a reliable solar filter for two weeks now. It's way too late. :(
I did get eclipse glasses on ebay, those are plentiful enough, and they can get there before the transit, if you order soon.
