I took this photo at a friend's wedding. Although I like the photo, I think it is missing something. Can anyone help? Is there something I can do in photoshop to make this photo better?

i like it just the way it is; anymore and it would look contrived.

Maybe straighten it out?

I like the photo, this is a nice concept. Adding the ring bearer next time in an additional shot. Maybe even peeking out from behind the dress maybe kewl. But I like the shot.

You've captured a moment that likely cannot be recreated.

You may possibly adjust to straighten slightly, but I would be hesitant to do anything else to a great capture.

You've captured this scene perfectly.

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you everyone for your comments. The mother of the bride loves this photo. Maybe I've been looking at it too long, thinking something was missing.

This is a nice shot. I actually had this scene in mind this past weekend, but no available flower girl. It would have been a bit more magical if you could have found a window or doorway to hang the dress, but we take what we have available. For post processing, I may be tempted to use the radial filter in Lightroom to darken the hallway and or brighten the girl and dress putting a little more focus on girl & dress and less on the hallway.

Beautiful work. Possibly add a vignette to darken the area to the right of the subjects. I'm not proficient enough in Photoshop to tell you what to do.

It's a great shot, but I think the dress is too warm from the incandescent lighting? Especially compared to the whiteness, grayness of the girl's dress.

As for straightening, I don't know that it's possible with all the converging lines, if you straighten it one way, the angled lines will make it appear crooked anyway.

I like Tim's idea of either a vignette, or darkening (not black) the whole background.

The top of the dress is warm, or a tad underexposed. I would think that it wouldn't be too terribly hard to do any of that.

Of course, this is only because you asked. Frankly, I really like it as it is. I think what you see as "something missing" is because the walls are boring. That can work to your advantage, because if the walls were decorated in any way, it would take away from the subject of the photo, which is the flower girl. I think the dress is secondary.

If I get a chance tonight, if you don't mind, I could do a really quick and dirty edit to show what I'm talking about. It may not help at all, I'm just saying the first things that come to mind.

I'm doing a LOT of work to my house, so I can't guarantee anything, but I'd sure be happy to try (only with permission) if I get a minute or 3.

i like the walls the way they are.
The slanted lines give me an impression of growth and the passage of time
without distracting from child or dress.

Hey Linda,

I took your pic through Lightroom & Photoshop and came up with this lightening/darkening effect. After taking it in, I felt this image would look more dreamy in B&W. Just my take on it.

I like what you did jaysnave.
How did you darken this area?
I agree about b&w, will try that.

THANKS, Linda
