It looks like an Interface cable to transfer images directly from your Camera to a computer. Plug one into the camera and the other into your computer.. transfer away..
Good luck..

It looks like a 3.0 USB interface cable, plugs into your newer cameras that have the 3.0 mini plug and your PC/Mac. I have one for my Canon 7DMKIII

It's definitely USB on one end. The other end is slightly different. Not sure if it is a USB connection or not. It's not a mini USB plug and every Canon I can think of uses the mini plug. Do you know what camera the cord came with? Is it possible it is from something besides a camera, such as a printer?

Thanks for replying, It must be for a camera as I have not got a Canon printer. I have a Canon 7D and a Canon 5DSR. I will check the manuals and see if I can spot it.
The last Canon camera I got was a video camera but I am sure it won't fit on there anywhere.

In the front of the manuals should be illustrations of the cables that came with each camera. Hopefully that will help! Good luck! Every time I straighten up the area where I keep all my gear I find cables I can't identify. Wouldn't you think that by now I would have enough sense to tag them? Of course not! I never forget anything, except everything!!

Well, one end is USB, the other looks to be HDMI, and the connector with the thumbscrews sort of looks like an old serial cable end. Is it attached to the cable? can't really tell from the image...

Does it attach to a GPS on one end?

It's the USB3 cable that came with your 5DSR body. The plastic piece is a keeper to hold it in place when tethering.

Could it be two cables? Looks as though it has more cable ends than one cable. Like make hooking another screen to your computer. Oh well, somebody knows.

Absolutely correct. Your 5DSR has a mini USB 3.0 female connector, and you can see the male counterpart on the right of the photo. The large plastic piece has 2 screw connectors that screw into the camera body.

If you never tether your camera to your pc, then your cord is just another 3.0 usb standard to mini cable with a superfluous connector.

It screws into the camera body? Interesting, I've never seen that. Nikons don't have them.

The screws attach the cable just like a VGA cable does, they are visible in the photo, to secure the connection to the camera. The body has 2 threaded holes behind the rubber cover for that cable. I personally like that the cable doesn't come loose from the 7DMKII when I tether. Unfortunately, the 5DMKIII has the older 2.0 mini connector, so I still attach a bungee style cord to the connector and tripod to keep the plug from being pulled loose if I accidentally get tangled in the cable.
