Carry a $5 bill, then you can also give a tip!
I have traveled a Seminar Circuit for years. I have never seen a city other than New Orleans, where it takes so long to get food service. I was late to every event at the seminar. My first morning was in the Hotel Restaurant, sitting at the counter. Breakfast took an hour and fifteen minutes. The help moved so slow they would not show up on long exposures with a camera. Seriously. The next day, I walked half an hour to a cafeteria style diner. I was then one hour and 45 minutes late to that days first seminar.
I even tried JUST grits for one breakfast. ... You quessed it... Late again!

Ya just have to get with the local program. Never missed a beat in New Orleans, just get with the flow....
It's called the Big Easy for a reason, but you do need to fit in...
One more suggestion, which may be too late but reference for next time. DO NOT miss Mulate's Restaurant. The address is 201 Julia Street.
Aside from the fact that TripAdvisor rated it #188 out of the 1837 eateries in NOLA, I will add that they have the best Gumbo that I have had anywhere.
Excellent suggestion! Thanks, Mike.

Another place to visit (bar wise) is Pat O'Brien's on St. Peter Street / Bourbon. Famous flaming fountain in the courtyard and the home of Hurricanes. Definitely the best hurricanes in NOLA. Very refreshing on a hot day, but they can be deceptive. Each one has 4oz of rum in it, but it doesn't taste like it so they can sneak up on you!
Have fun!
Across from Pat O'Brien's is the Voo Doo store. They have walking Ghost Tours which I have done twice and loved it. David
I grew up in New Orleans, but have been away for many years. My favorite haunt is walking the French Quarter, Frenchman St., Riverwalk, and Magazine St.
Lots of street photography opportunities if that's your thing (it's mine). I went to high school just outside the Quarter, so many memories recur in this area.
On my last trip back, I signed up for a photo tour with:
American Photo Safari
Address: 1000 Bourbon St, Suite B392, New Orleans, LA 70116-2708
Phone Number: +1 504-298-8876
I was the only person on that morning's tour, so I had a 3 hour personal tour. We walked from Jackson Square to Esplanade Ave.
The moderator pointed out many interesting details, unusual angles and other minutia. Things I had walked past.
It was, in my case a terrific session. I recommend the tour.
Stay loose, many many opportunities if you let yourself see them.
Wow!! Great suggestions here. You seem to be all set. But --- if you have time you might want to include one of the nearby Swamp Boat Tours. You won't believe what you see. And if you are really lucky, one of the Water Moccasins that suns up in the trees that overhang the swamp, might get nervous and drop right into your boat. Great opportunity for Macro with your camera. OOPS, sorry, couldn't resist! But seriously do a swamp tour if you can work it in. Have a GREAT trip!!

I agree, very worthwhile. Take a can of Gatorade, and don't dangle your hands in the water, could make it harder to operate your camera properly!
