I am going to New Orleans for a week and would like to hear from the Hogs where their hidden (or not so hidden) photographic treasures are. I know there are tons of travel and city resources to choose from; I particularly am interested in the UHH experience. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and scenic finds.
Find the main city cemetery. All graves in NLO are above ground in mausoleums due to the extremely low water table.
French Quarter, homes along St. Charles Ave., Zoo, City Park, Audubon Park, trolley line, Old U.S. Mint, Music Venues along Frenchmen St., take a swamp tour and don't forget old plantation homes along the Mississippi River. Word of caution, be very aware of your surroundings. Grew up in New Orleans before moving to the north shore. What I have given you is really the short list. It should keep you busy for awhile.
The graves are above ground due to the HIGH water table, not low.
Have fun!!

We have a North Shore in Minnesota - you didn't mean that one, did you.
Too far north for me John. Just about 25 miles north of New Orleans.

The light early also late afternoon. Before Katrina, anywhere in the Quarter -- haven't been back yet.
From the French Quarter, just get on the St Charles trolley car, runs about every five minutes. There are good photo ops at just about every stop. You have the Garden District, Tulane, Loyola University, Audubon Park, the zoo, and the levee. Then return on the Riverfront line and you can see Magazine Street, the riverfront and Lower Garden District. The trolley lines are one of the few things that work well in NOLA.
Great suggestions - thanks All.

High water table, floats the coffins out of the ground.
And when you've done all that, treat yourself to a frozen Irish coffee at a place called Molly's at the Market. You'll be glad you did.
This city has more ways to gain weight than almost any other place I know about.
Sounds like a plan! Thanks, FrankR.
I just posted a couple of shots taken while we visited last summer. Also had a trolley night shot but must be too large to load. We also took a swamp tour that went into the thicker portions of the swamp. Take one of the city tours first to get the lay of the land then you can pick your spots. And yes, the food is great..... Muriel's in particular!
Wow! I am in for a great treat - phood and photos - it don't get better that that!
