Thank you for the answer.I have a P900 so the 610 may not help, I don't know.I am getting a book but have only had the camera a day so have not had a chance to get instructions and I am doing an airshow on Sunday.I accepted the answer in the spirit it was given, a precise instruction.
Someone else gave me the answer.Go to Scene,Birds and Continuous.

The online user manual may give you an easier reference than trying to find stuff in the manual provided with the camera. (mine is more complete with the online PDF version. For the P900 the user manual, and reference to the correct page is the following:

In the time it took you to post your question you could have downloaded the owners manual. The downloaded version is better than the printed manual because it is much easier to search than the paper version. There is nothing wrong with asking a bunch of strangers on the web. But you have as much of a chance of getting a wrong answer as a right one. So, at the very least, verify in the manual before heading out to the show.

Have fun.
