When you are looking at the back of the camera, the dial on the top left side of the camera has markings that read S, CL, and CH. They indicate Single, Continuous low and Continuous high. In the Shooting/display menu d5 and d6 also control the number of frames and the FPS for the CL mode.

Checking with the Nikon website, neither camera appears to offer a Burst exposure mode (correct me if I'm wrong, Nikon fans), viscountdriver is bursting to know.

This is according to the B&H web site for the P900.

"Burst Rate Up to 7 fps at 16 MP for up to 7 frames"

My Canon sx50 had a HQ Burst mode which I loved for shooting BIFs and other wildlife in motion. My Nikon p610 does not have any similar setting. I can change the settings in the menu to continuous shooting. But it is nowhere near the rate of the burst mode on the sx50. That is a feature I really miss that is not on the p610.

So no, I have not found a burst mode on the Nikon p610.

They don't call it burst mode, they just call it continuous shooting mode.

I suggest you read the manual and keep the camera handy as you do. This way you can try as you read. If using the PDF for of the manual, perhaps you were looking up burst mode, where you should be looking up continuous shooting mode.

To my mind you didn't give the op anything positive he could use. It may be important to point out an error but much more helpful to provide an answer, don't you agree?

Damn. I tried using that CL last night to have my camera run for hours to photograph the meteors. It only took ten shots. I thought the battery must have caved. Now I know another place to look!

I guess the world does not revolve around your mind. Moving on.
